I know I shouldn't call other people paranoid, it's usually me with the belt and braces

Just wanted you to steps a little back and think about it in piece.

I am planning a "half" track day August 11th in Brands.
Fancy coming???

I remember a track Day at Oulton Park. There was another Sport EVO with Motec like yours and same thing with high oil temp (130 deg C).They spend a long time at the oil cooler bending all the fins back open and nothing changed in terms of oil temp. Still high.
So save your money

I don't think there is anything wrong with your oil temp. Mine goes up that high as well if I give it some stick. You are just paranoid about it .

I do not say ignore it. It might have something to do with your ignition map. If you are running really "sharp", engine temp might raise. This is why "Chip tuner" can extract a little more power of a standard chip. They just push the limits a bit further and modify the "safety" settings on a standard chip. Which in your case with the MOTEC is already done.

An OEM chip is running really conservative in some areas. I have been shown on my standard chip where 10deg's just have been taken away as a matter of precaution.

While looking at the cooler Uwe, its a bit bashed up
and a lot of the fins are crushed and bent from
various impacts over the years, I figure If i'm going to
get a new one might as well upgrade...

there is nothing wrong with 115. as long i don't see 130 I will not touch it!

Why are we paying a fortune for all this super syntetic oil if it can't stand a little bit more heat.
at least this is what sales wants us to believe.

Uwe, it is bigger (e28 M5) and looks like a direct fit>
Brian your right, even though oil temp was never
critically high, it did get up 115, if I can get the oil to
run at around a 100 when being driven hard I would
be happier.

I'm guessing this is related to the Ring trip and the temps you saw on the track . Have you had a look for rasons for the higher temp of if this is common to 2.5L's ?
There's probably something on s14.net about fitting that oil cooler.

why do you want to do that? Is it larger?
My oil temp is never critical, so I never thought about it.
