Noted that Nick Hiedfeld can 'only' manage a 8.40 in
a new V10 M5, apprently 2 seconds 'slower' than a
regular E36 M3 Evo... and they reckon they can get
this GT around in under 8 min...............................

sorry but it all seems very 'fishy' on so called times
here, a bit of artistic licence flying around me thinks.

Sells magazines I guess

At 8:40 he would have had John passing him pretty easily.

Heidfeld was probably doing FULL laps and not BTG

It only highlightes that knowing the Ring is more important than driving skills on it's own.

Of course one is linked to the other and even if you know the Ring inside out you wont score a good time if you don't know how to drive fast in the first place.

Uwe, that is BTG + estimated extra time, so the
magazine says.

add around 25 secs for a full lap over a BTG time . Either way it sounds very slow.

I'm going to leave my ego at home next year - do as many pax and sight laps before and between my own laps. I'll just be glad to get round next year without incident and hopefully enjoy the experience of losing my 'Ring cheery. Maybe in the subsequent years I'll even start to think about times..

GT looked very cool BTW.. I think it'll be really quick if pushed but I still think 4wd gives you a few more options if the weather isn't so good..
