My '89 635csi Highline should be ready sometime next week - can't wait, I've been missing the old gal!

Anyway, here are some pics of the car mid-work.....!

If you have a 6 or a Highline 6, you know where they tend to go!!

The guy who is doing the work said that the car is remarkably solid for 16 yrs old & 200,000 miles. He has had to remove about 30+ fixings & only 2 were seized - he was staggered by this & complimented the build quality.

Ready for another 200k miles over the next 16 years.

I've just had my front wings done in the same place.  Next step is to get it all waxoyled.  There's a franchise called The Wax Works which will do all box sections etc., I'll dig out the url for them.

Thanks Andy, I'll have a mooch.

I've spoken to the guy who's doing my Highline & he tells me he's had to make up a rear arch for it, as neither he nor I felt that it was worth lashing out some 500.00+ for a new arch from BMW!

He's fitted a 'new'  pair of front wings on  (that I bought  from  James Sohl sometime ago....), he's done a couple of repairs on those & has painted them off the car, but only after he cleaned up the backs of them, stonechipped them, put a rubberised coating on them & finished them off with waxoyl - hopefully with regular cleaning these should see the car out......

He's applying paint to the rest of the car (the bits that needed doing) & he's aiming for me to be able to collect on Tuesday evening.

A signwriting friend of his has matched the styling lines & they'll be added prior to collection.

Also, he's re-aligning both doors so they fit just so!

The bill shouldn't be over a grand, for which I'll be very very happy.

Then its off to have the stainless-steel tubular manifold made for it late next month & get the wheels refurbed at the same time, in the meantime its going in for an a/c sort out!

Phew - that should be it, well, for a little while anyway!!

Thanks Andy, you're being far too kind. I'm just trying to get the jobs that need doing, done right, so I can look to NOT do them again, or at least for a good while!

Well we do our best with our cars don't we Andy!

Yours still looks as immaculate as ever.

Cheers,

Dave

Not quite, a little corrosion thread on the front bumper & a faint crack on the corner of the fill-in panel cost me first place in my section at the Dilston show. Lost out to an '87 Alfa 75 with less than 20k miles on it.

Rest of the lads were gutted.  Since all I did was wash it & give it a coat of polish I didn't feel too cheated - it has done more than 3 times the Alfa's mileage after all!

Well done Andy - your car is clearly a credit to you!

Any chance you could either post some more pics of it or email them to me?

TIA

Autoaircon of Redditch, they are very good & have just done my E34.

If your ventilation system blows hot all the time regardless of setting then maybe its your heater valve thats playing up.

Good luck!

Just starting similar things to my e23 B10, not looking forward to the final bill (as it's bound to be more than quoted due to hidden items) but can't wait for it to be returned nice and clean and free from jagged edges!
