Does anyone know whether a E36 2.5 24 valve engine can fit into a E30 320i directly or is there serious hassle with ECU and looms etc.

Any advice like no chance etc will be of help

Also does anyone know of a light frontal damaged E36 325i or cheap high miler or blown engine, any condition will do ie rust dents etc

Many Thanks

Kevin

I have to admit my advice would be get an M3, a 4 pot in front of an E30 has to be the way forward (the handling is rudely good), I believe there are quite a few second hand S14 engines about though if you felt so inclined...

I've heard it possible but is a huge hassle, something to do with having to re-locate the break servo because of the width of the E36 lump. I've seen a V8 in a 3 Series but i wouldn't want to attempt it!

I found this E30 with an E46 M3 engine(+Supercharger).

I'm interested in what other people think on this issue - I have been reading a discussion on another website on the relative merits of the golf gti 2.0 8v engine over the 16v engine.  The main plus points were refined performance, better low end torque and better reliability in the 8v.  The majority were singing the praises of the 8v.

I know you are going from 2 litre to 2.5 litre, but have you considered the 12v 2.5 engine?  Does anyone have an opinion on the merits of one over the other? (Apart from the obvious 20 bhp extra)

Police arrested two kids yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, the
other was eating fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off.

Thanks for the info

I have a 325iSE E36 for breaking (see E36 thread) but run E30 320I at the mo , lowered, factory fitted Zender kit, and just thought it may be fun to build a project car as the it is not worth too much to sell, and having this 24valve engine thought it could be a bit of a laugh.

More likely scenario is to source a 4 dr E36 with a goosed engine or bad bodywork as the panels on the Import 325i are immaculate.

On your other point

My mum had a G plate E30 325i tourer and that was far quicker than my beamer, so i thoght the 24valver in a E30 would fairly shift

cheers anyway

Kevin
