After driving my new coupe for 2 weeks I am quite disappointed about the fuel consumption of my car.   I'm averaging about 17 miles per gallon on normal unleaded petrol.  Most jouneys involve stop/start type driving as I live in London. Anyone know if this is normal fuel consumption for this car?

Sounds about right for stop/start traffic...

I get ~30mpg from my manual E36 328i coupe running on Optimax with a mixed bag of motorway/town driving. If I end up doing just town driving for any period of time, the mpg plummets...

Looks like I'll have to grim and bear it then. Will try using optimax from now on as well.
