Yep I finally bought my track car today. Ugly, rusty and banged about, but it goes and stops, kind of anyway, so I'm now on the hunt for bits. Photos will follow but won't be pretty.

Anyone got a set of 15s with tyres as the wheels on the car are useless! Essex/Kent prefered.

Thanks

Nigel

Thanks for all your comments. It's taken a long time to get a car again, this one is definately only fit for a track car, no way it is restorable as the rot is well and truly in place! I intend to strip out the heated leather, replace the sunroof panel, and repair any rust in the chassis first. It needs wheels now, then brakes and lines, suspension and possibly a cage, also some race seats. I have an Evo Sport rear wing to go on but it needs painting of course.

I gave it the full tin of gunk in the engine bay this morning and it looks a lot better, but still a long way from where I want it. ETA are going to be doing most of the work, afterall I am to mechanics what Boris is to politics....

The plan is to aim at the S14 meeting end of June.

Then list all the reasons why I haven't finished it and can't go!!

Had a ride in an M5 Touring 3.8 6 speed this morning, what an impressive drive, helped no doubt by the driver being an advanced pursuit police driver, but still such an impressive car.

Cheers. Please pass on my list of wants to all who may have stuff left in the garage.

Nigel,

As Toby mentioned I'm pretty sure we would all like to see a photo diary

Hi m3mad , is this a Diamond Black car by any chance ? With a G in the registration and drilled front disks and aftermarket wheels ? .

Its so nice to get back in an M3 after time away from them , good luck with it .

Hmm....... this all sounds very familiar.

I can't beat your price NIgel, though I was reasonably happy with £3500 for a UK spec Evo 1 in 2002 (The owners husband didn't realise what it was despite being an 'Expert', and I wasn't about to tell him!!)

Mine had lost the wheel arch liners at some point and the front section of side skirts were cut away (18" rims perhaps?) all of which lead to hideous rust all down both A-pillars as well as the scuttle being rotten.

After a visit to Bexley's body shop friend all was well, but now we have a cage going in.

I'll try an scan/send some pics to show you it's development.

Enjoy your new toy!

Photo diary it is then, I hope to bring it home next week and will start some downloads then. It is on a B plate with a private no to go back to the seller. Rust in scuttle, rear quarter, back panel and bonnet. Not much else known as ETA's ramp is out of action at present.

Going down the strip out first route, then repair what's needed then re-equip etc.
