spoke too soon! Alarm is working now but my fob struggles to switch it on or off, even with a brand new battery in it only works once every 5 - 6 times! Anyone got any ideas? I am assuming it is a reception problem, or a transmission problem as the actual locks and alarm seem to function ok. Has anybody had similar problems? If so how to fix? i don't want to go out and replace the fob and box if it is going to be something else so any advice would be gratefully received... Now works not at all, please help.. |

OK, new battery seems to have sorted it. I have had to shift the hugely high quality antenna wire so the remote can communicate with it, but hopefully I now have remote locking... Thanks for the help guys.. |

OK, I have now found the box and am able to switch the alarm on. Managed get the central locking and alarm to work once then nothing... New battery in the remote or does it need resetting?? I will try a new battery initially but could do with some tips on resetting. I have looked through the various forums but am a little confused as to which procedure is correct, if someone can point me to a link... |

I am located in Aberystwyth, Welsh Coast, but am also working in Telford 1 day a week. Any tips on somebody there? Would it be worth posting some photos to see if anyone can spot something obvious? M |

under the rear bench seat on the passenger side, black box about 6 by 4 inches. if not do you have any wiring plugs that don't seam to go anywhere. the guy you boughtit of may not have been all together honest. seems like a silly question but is it missing? Where are you located. mightbe someone local who could have a look for you.

Re the alram, old alarms are more agro that then worth... Rip it out and get a disk lock....far more of a deterent to a thief. If you really want an alarm, install a new one, doesnt have to be thatcham approved on your vehicle does it(?), so it wont cost the earth

Thanks for the relay info, I will check that over the weekend. Any ideas on the alarm? I am sure there is a box somwhere but i cannot find it. There is the siren things under the bonnet with an on/off switch that needs the key i don't have (mechanic used a mitsubishi one) but that is the only box I can find, I have looked under the rear seat and even under the panel bottem right of the steering wheel where the E30 used to have theirs. I really do think that this is something simple, but obviously not simple enough for me!!! Any ideas?

Hi, just registered as i have been scanning all these forums for a few days now and have not found the answer I am looking for. I have just bought a 1993 525i SE Auto which I am chuffed to bits with. However having bought it cheap I am trying to iron out the niggles. 1. Some of the relays seem to be missing from the two boxes in the engine compartment and I have no idea what they are for. Most things seem to be working but, as it didn't come with a manual I am a bit stuck for how to identify them. 2. When I looked at the car the alarm would not switch off (it had been standing for a few months and a new battery was put on it). The guy who MOT's it managed to switch it off via the siren box under the bonnet, but on switching back on it no longer works. The remote does nothing at all, even with a new battery, so I have to unlock it with the key. I cannot find a box under the rear seat, which most of the posts refer to so am stumped. The fob is the single button square with the corner cut off if that helps. Anyone got any ideas? All the fuses seem to be there and working.. On a positive note i have just managed to install an OBC from an E32! So will now spend days trying to reset the fuel limits!! mcvicar |
