sorry john I repied twice but thought that a simple reply method would suffice...here are the missing emails ..with apologies for not checking the responses sooner

John;

Welcome aboard first of all…a 6 is real gem to own…but a friend of mine is the real expert…trust Limerick people to be quiet know-it-alls eh…

The arches are awkward but everything can be repaired…depends upon your budget…my sills weren’t as bad as described mainly due to this ‘horsetan’ chap who vetted the car and was very very very honest indeed…my sills need work but I have, and the car has loads of time available to it….

You can take a number of options from here…if the inner wings are totally gone then that is structural damage and would need my friend to see it…it depends upon how many welds…the shape of the welds et etc…

The only way to do your 6 if she is struggling structurally is to learn how to weld or get to know someone who can – be prepared to work very hard to stay under budget…

Was this a british or irish car?   Can you drive it around on the roads here? It might be worth a burn to limerick if you could…

Moneywise…

If the outer wings are gone also…€600 each….my sills and yours would be £300 for the sill and then labour on top…jacking points are needed…

Inner wing MAY be a whole new ball game…shaping metal may need experience and/or expertise….BUT the finish wont have to be immaculate of course…

Send me down a picture or two of it…I am really curious now…was she a good spec otherwise?…all electrics working?…windows not blowing in the wind?…brakes soft?…steering hard work?  Knocking from rear diff? .. or is it driving at all?…Pat, down here in limerick, is always saying that there comes a time to know when to quit…

Send a few pics and lets see…these are a car worth driving…so much more a drivers mobile than any jag or merc you know…and RARE in Ireland…worth the effort if you can spend…

Yours (curious as hell)

trev

 Hope you can pics down to my email...trevornorma@eircom.net

If the inner wings are gone, it would probably be better to have new inner wings fitted, and to hell with the cost.
