Looking for a bit of help from my fellow "non-bling" Scottish modding crew for my 2003 330Ci.

Right, most of the mods are now on the motor which include GruppeM, Eibach Pro Kit, ACS Mirrors, CS Splitters, Clear Projectors, Body coloured grille and badges, ACS interior bits.

Two things left to do: wheels and exhaust.

Wheels

Right, at first I thought I'd go for some bad-ass alloys with large rims. But after checkin' ******* loads out, came to the conclusion that they only look really good in 19". So after doing some homework, found out that this would probably require some arch modifications (to get "flush" to arches look) and the tyres are ******* expensive.

So, unhappily went back to 18". Top of the list, to follow the ACS theme are a set of Type III's. Next, Hamman PG2's.

Keen to hear if I'm being too dismissive on the 19" wheel stuff and what you guys think of the choice of 18's?

Exhaust

Again, keeping with the ACS theme, tempted to go for that. However, I am being distracted by the dark side, Eisenmann. I know Eisenmann do different sound levels. I'm discounting the race system, but would get one of the sport sytems and keep the two existing resonators in place.

Does anyone have any experience of either system, and more importantly, what does the exhaust tone end up like?

I know its all a matter of personal taste, but it does no harm to get some 3rd party advice!

Thanks.

330Ci Sport, I have the Eisenmann Race exhaust twin 76mm with sound pipes installed on my 320Ci it has a nice rasp to it and you only notice it now and again, if you don't install the sound pipes it stays much quiter, did you look at the Eisenmann website and listen to the sound clips.

Hihi

I've got the ACS one on my car, everybody who has heard it from outside the car say its has a nice deep roar to it  But I think its too quiet for my liking...I hear the gruppeM induction kit more than the exhaust.

I was thinking abt taking one of the resonators out one close to the backbox, but with the compact its not a very big one so my exhaust fitter told me removing the box would not increase noise much and lose low down power too

PS: ACS exhaust are also made by Remus its stamped on the box with the acs logo below it..

I've got 19ACS wheels on my car with 7mm spacers all round with acs springs (want Coilover asap ) and love them esp when they are moving so aggressive, got the 18MV's on at the mo due to the bad weather...

I personally prefer the 19's for e46 but I have seen a lot of e46 with 18's looking very nice, it just depends wot you want looks v usability

The 19's are a lot less forgiving compared to my 18's esp potholes + back road high speed cornering, and less feedback depending on wheel choice but acs are lightweight so compared to your 18 MV they are a lot lighter.

Tires are not too bad I've got 235/35R19 p-zero Neros on which cost me about 130quid for one.

If you want PG2 think best get them in 19's because the spokes don't go right to the rim, how about the acs type.4 nice rims

Hope this info helps...

Hi Tigger,

See your getting some help off the Evotechnik boys as well! Good price on the P-Zero's.

So, on a balance between everyday driving/looks what do you prefer? I've gotta say, I've seen pics of your 19's and they look the bollocks, but I'm still not convinced that after covering the first 2,000 miles and a couple of months on A-Road's, I'm gonna have to shelve out another 1k+ for 18's instead?

My the way Mods, edited for language content? Come on, hardly gonna get Mary Whitehouse out of bed for that one.

well if your going down the ac schnitzer road then it has to be acs type 111 in 19 "

Or how about a set of Hartge classics in 19"

I like my 19" but it is really down to how you use your car, If you don't want to sacrifice any performance and handling you should stick with the 18"....But if you want looks and willing to dodge every pot hole on the road go for the 19"

Honestly ride quality is not much different between the 18" and 19".... Esp the MV they weigh so much, the big problem factor is UK roads, you really have to be careful with 19" with the thin tires.

The 19" are going back on before the end of the month because my rear tires on my MV are close to slicks and it needs it mot soonish

Surprised the Mod guru M BLUR hasn't been on this question already (Jon where are you ?) he had wheel decisions to make for the Z3M and the think the Type III got the vote for his if he got replacements

I went the other way from 18 ACS replica's to 17 M5 replica's and the handling on the 5 changed dramatically from a whale to a dolphin

Why not compromise have 17 or 18" winter alloys that handle potholes seeing as there's little light about and you can't spot them on the dark days and keep the 19's for summer when you can see the road better

Have you seen the jump in tyre prices when you go up from 17's ? Glad I stayed with the 17's (4 for the price of 2 of the bigger sized ones)

Currently E38 - 740
