vacume pipe 530i

   after changing the starter motor on my 530 i noticed a small black fule controle vacume type pipe had come adrift i know were it conects to on the block of similar pipes on the near side suspension leg but does anyone know were the other end gos or is it just open  to the elements the car seems to be running ok but  does seem a tad heavyier on juice
