hi can any one help me , ive just bought a bmw 535i se or thats what it says on the log book  but it looks like an m5 full colour coded body, lowered suppension, m steering wheel & gear knob, m badges front and back looks superb but i have paperwork with the same chassis number and some refer it to being an m5 and some 535i se and some m535i se and some receipts  say 535i e34 now this is my first bmw and dont really know  much about them, the car as leather seats ,E/W, E/S/R, E/M, AIR CON,CD PLAYER, ABS, REMOTE LOCKING, COMPUTER, traction control ,manual box and so on are these standard ? if any 1 could help me i would be greatful as i need to get this car insured and declare any mods but i dont what is standard and what is modified i hav photos of this car if any could tell from them what the hell it is.....

                               thanks..

what year is the car?. pre '88' there was a M535 old old style ( E28 I think ), post '88' there is a M5 ( E34 model ) which has around 315 bhp ( latest model 340 bhp !! ) with all the goodies as standard. Where did you by it from , dealer or private?

have a look at the engine, if it is an M5 then it will have 'M POWER' on the top case. If not then it probably is a 535i and a previous owner has put the M5  bits on.  Maybe an idea to trace the previous owners and ask what mods they have done,
