I need some oil filters for the E36 M3.  I see GSF sell them at 3.50.  Any good?  How much are genuine ones?  Are they any different/better?

About £6 if I remember correctly from the local stealer. Maybe its just me being paranoid, but an oil filter on my M3 is not something I want to risk discovering GSF do badly.........I'm sure most would agree!

The filters are about £6 as Paulo says.

I bought some bottom arms from Euro car parts and got a filter from there, it was geniune BMW filter. Not sure about GSF. Alot of these places actually have genuine parts without the dealer markup and also copy cheaper parts. Ask them. If not for £6 from a dealer (where I normally go so i can keep the receipts for the history) isn't too bad.

I'm certainly not interested in cheapskating on the filter.  But sometimes you get exactly the same item from GSF for half the price.

Unless I am told they are identical, I'll get them from the main dealer.  Hell, I'll tell you what I'll go buy one from GSF AND the dealer and then I can tell you lot.

I have used GSF Oil Filters on my E30 since I had it. Not noticed any problems!

Mate the filter for my E30 was £3.50 + VAT from Lind.  However if memory serves the E36 uses the cartridge type rather than an old-skool spin on type so they could be dearer.

I'd stick with Lind if I were you.  Don't forget the sump plug washer!

As long as the filter is OEM you should be ok all you're missing is the BMW markings on the filter and the markup that goes with it. GSF only use OEM suppliers for filters as far as I am aware.
No BMWs in the family (for the moment) Other stuff includes Mk2 Golf GTI 8V and G60, Vento VR6 track car and a few other bits and pieces
