Hi all , just a quick question .

This weekend I'm going to transfer all the eibach springs, adjustable roll bars , and bilstien shocks from my written off car to the new one (which is still on standard suspension) .

I'm struggling to remove the rear anti roll bar , I cant seem to get it out ! .

Its unbolted and turnes in every direction but wont slide out ! , do I have to drop the diff ? I hope not as this bolt has been badly rounded by a previous owner .

Any help will be great .

Ps anyone going to Gaydon ? If so see you there .

If you are talking E30 M3,it will come out but is a right PITA,you have to swing it almost in a circle to get it out.I had to remove shocks and springs and move the jack around aswell,as it always seemed to be in the way.If you have no use for the standard bar,take an angle grinder to it 5 mins and its off.

Thanks Jon , yes its an E30 M3 .

I've removed the springs /shocks etc and I'll have another go tomorrow ! .

I do all my own work on my car and have  tackled some difficult jobs but its the first time I've got stuck ! and it looked an easy job at first .

Mmmm Angle grinder !!! .

I would drop the diff, it's only the one bolt, saves the hassle.

Yes was going to drop the diff but the bolt is badly rounded off ! , the shell is scrap so I could cut the bracket and drop the diff that way I suppose .

I'm working nights this wk so I'll revisit it tomorrow afternoon .

I managed to slide my anti-roll bar out without removing anything from the car, was a bit of a squeeze - then I did have it up on a proper ramp.

I think the key is to have both wheels off the ground allowing the suspension to be fully extended.

Make sure you get the bar the right way round when you install it as I managed to do this and it doesn't look like you can do that - but trust me you can!

Its off ! took a while and I'm not even sure how I did it but out it came .

Thats the good news , bad news is I've got to transfer all the suspension to my new car and this involves removing another rear anti rollbar ! .

Guess we will have a good contact in the future if one needs to remove a roll bar
E61 520d, slow and buzzy but my wallet likes the mpg.....

Front ARB is similarly difficult on an ur-quattro for what it's worth. I used a ratchet strap to 'Charles Atlas' it into place while doing up the fittings, then released the strap and bounced the car a few times to settle everything before torqueing-up.

I always hate working with things that spring back [rubber grommets/bushes/springs etc]. the over-centre spring on the e36 clutch pedal is a pig too. Blah blah blah

Well its all done ! took about a day in all .

The hardest part was the front ARB bushes it took ages ! I did use the ratchet strap idea in the end (Thanks Chris top tip) .

Had Colin Bix set up the tracking and ARB settings yesterday and it drives so much better !.
