E36 Evo clutch hose - question

   Folks
The braided clutch hose update for the e36 Evo was originally done by a dealer I believe (Birds, maybe?).  I think I read somewhere that BMW took on this mod and its now available through the rest of the dealer network.  Can anyone verify this?  If so, does anyone have a part number or description to use in ordering one?

	I tried to get one from Scotthall Hampshire and the parts nerd got all screwy saying that BMW would only release these hoses after the clutch had been inspected. What a crock! I sorted this on my GT by lifting an old hose out of a car at the scrappy and then presenting it to my local hydraulic hose supplier who replicated it in Goodridge components. Job done. I'm not convinced that the hose is entirely to blame with these symptoms however: other culprits include slightly deformed release fork and dimples in the back of the release bearing. All these conspire to reduce clutch throw-out.

	Just had a new braided pipe fitted at a local BM specialist. Local BM dealer hadn't heard of any modified pipe and tried to sell me a new clutch as they said this would be the only cause of the low bite point, (Yeh if you like). So a trip to Autobarn Northampton they knew exactly what the mod was and showed me the new pipe, genuine BMW braided one, what a difference, before the clutch bit point was 1/2 inch from floor now it's about half way up, gear change is alot smoother. I will try to get part number and post on here.

	it's a standard part from bmw now , there about �59 .00 + vat and fitting , i have the part number somewhere as i need to get mine done , i'm crushing the carpet to get the gears when the car is hot ..

	Hello Dergside, If you contact Goodridge direct they should be able to supply the hose to you. N.B. The good thing with goodridge is that if they don't have the specification to supply the hose straight away, they will usually supply the hose free of charge if you send them an old one to copy. 	Folks Many thanks for the feedback and for the time. If one of you can find the part number that really would be appreciated. I'll probably get my local dealer to do the job, but its obvious that there is a bit of ignorance of the mod with the dealers (especially here where the M's are more scarce), so being able to quote the part number would be a big help. 	Gents, What an amazing stroke of luck reading this post. Yesterday whilst driving my car, noticed that the biting point of the clutch pedal is about an inch from the floor. Am I correct in thinking that this is due to the clutch pipe extending ? Therefore this new metal clutch pipe would sort this ?? MY car is a 98 evo convertible. Can someone tell me if this new part was a recall ? Covered under the BMW warranty ?? What is the part number ? Im going to ring my local dealer now. Simon

	SBK, as the engine gets hot it heats the pipe causing it to deform. I thought this was sorted with all EVO's made from '97 being fitted with the braided one. I guess yours might have slipped throught the net?!?!

	Hi all, Right, I come with answers !! :-) I went into my BMW dealer and asked about this new mod. Itold them that my clutch pedal has a very low bite, and described this new braided hose. They knew all about it, and wanted to know what type of pipe I had, whether it had a switchg in it or not. They have just done a M3's clutch under BMW warranty, and willdo mine too. So, cheers all. I need to tell them what type of clutch pipe Ive got, something about a switch or whatever, then they will order it and fit under my warranty ! ;-) Cool !!! Cheers guys SBK

	Hmmm... the clutch on my '94 bites quite low, not so low as to be a problem, but embarrasing when I jump from one car to another and either stall or sit there with loads of revs and no forward movement ! Would my car benefit from this new hose ? I was planning on doing all the brake hoses some time in the next few months, so I might as well do the whole set. Steve.

	thanks steveg that was the part number i was given by bmw , i've just dug it out , bmw told me that there are two hoses , one is a plain braided hose and the other one has a square block on one end , and i need to get the car up in the air and have a look to see which is fitted to my car ..

	Went to the dealer and give them that part number but they told me it was only for the braided hose without the block on the end. They said that there was no braided hose with the block on the end only the standard hose. Is this true? If so then i'll have to get one made up from somewhere.
