I've read somewhere (probably somewhere on this forum) that there is an option on the OBC to periodically run the air fans in the car to keep it a little cooler on hot days.  Anyone know if this is true and if so what do you have to do to set it?

Cheers

Hi mate,

It is true - it's done via the Timer button but I haven't used it myself. Your manual should tell you how to set it - if you have lost it I can scan you the relevant pages out of mine.

I bet you'd like to know how to set your OBC to read actuall running speed too huh

I'd appreciate that if you could scan those pages for me!! I don't have the manual - didn't get it with the car when I bought it.

Wouldn't mind knowing about the actual running speed as well..

Cheers

Hi mate,

My scanner is bost unfortunately, so I am going to type out the entire section for you - here goes...............

Independant ventilation control (input of switching times) - You can preselect two switch-on times for the independant vetilation control. The ventilation is switched off automatically after 30 minutes. When the timer button is pressed, the display shows the current operating condition of the IVC.

Input of first switch on time - input is possible only if the digital clock is running and the ignition key is in position 1. Press the timer button twice and then set the required time by using the number buttons. Then press set/res. (To input a second switch on time, repeat the above).

Correcting the time input - Press the keys in the order described above including the different time input. After the input, the display shows "*" and the LED comes on as a sign that a switch on time has been preselected. The LED on the timer button flashes while the heating or ventilation is actually in operation, and goes out when they are switched off.

To check a previous switch-on time input (LED is on) - Press timer twice for the first time input, and 3 times for the secondary time input.

Hope that helps mate - let us know if it works.

With regard to the actual speed reading on the OBC, the instructions are set out below....................

1. press 1000 and 10 keys together - should see Test-Nr
2. Enter 19 .ie. 10 once and 1 nine times.
3. press set and the display should read LOCK: ON
4. Then enter an unlocking code which consists of the sum of the current month and date. ie. July 11 would be 18.
5. Press set and you're done

Now the obc  is unlocked

1. press 1000 and 10 keys together again
2. Enter 08 .ie. 1 eight times.
3. press set and check to exit.

your speed button should now show your instantaneous speed - but only in kmh unfortunately.

What does this do? Does it switch the ventilation on and off?

Cheers for that Dan!

I'll probably set it to run the fans for half an hour before I leave work so the car should be a little cooler by the time I come to it.

Dave, if your talking about the timer then yes..runs the interior fan for 30mins after you set the 'ON' time. Ive unlocked my OBC now but haven't noticed any difference.

One thing, I got the OBC to do its other tests/readouts but couldn't get the dash /odometer to do its things. Like it says, I hold down the reset button and turn ignition to setting 2, but it doesn't say 'Test 1' or anything...it just reels off the random numbers where the odo is then thats it. Can't get it to do the tests...have I done it wrong??

So if you put the interior fans on timer, wouldn't this set the alarm off by the ultra sonics detecting movement?
