Looking at the Donington Park Website it would appear there are two noise standards.

The "standard" which is upto 98dba drive by and the "premium" over 98dba drive by.

I suspect the 27th Sept will be a "standard" day as this costs less.

The left hander before the old hairpin.  Calum was a passenger in my CSL when it happened (twice).  The suspension is being uprated to rid the car of the bush un-wind effect that causes it.  Quite scary if you're not expecting it!!  New KW stuff will be on in time to try it out on the 27th.

miodem.com or phooto.co.uk are OK, but all the pictures are moving to phooto.  I have links to the new site, so there should not be too much confusion.

Booked on to this one (eventually) and looking forward to it.

Had a ride round in an Exige in June and until then I had no idea of the size of the drop down craner or the rise back up under Scwantz, in spite of many days spent watching.

Just need some decent weather now (or pi$$ing rain if I want to show Giles in his new CSL (on pilot cups) the way round).

Is there okay to come and spectate?

I will (hopefully) have my car back from the bodyshop and am off work so may come along. What time is it starting?

Thanks,

Phil

You never know there might even be some on track places available?

If it follows the same format as last year the briefing is around 8 - 8:30 then the first group on track at 9am.

Yep the club will accept them.

Call the club office after 10. It would be good to see you on track.

Kev, I was so chuffed with the article.  The anticipation of not knowing what they were gonna say, "more roll than a burger van" type stuff was painful.  It was also amazing to go around in the ACS Z3 which is well sorted and I'm gutted it's new owner, Bryn can't make the trip.  Camera not in attendance this time and I've a new set of tyres to look after too.

Still, I found the pipe from the hairdryer wasn't correctly connected after Croft (at Gaydon) so it's a flying machine again now

See you there.

Kevin,

I won't know untill thursday/friday whether I will have my car back before next week.
Can I pay on the day? or at earliest friday?

Also is a Simpson Bandit helmet okay? as they are not ACU but are well acredited by different standards.

Also Also, my car has a SS pipe which is a touch noisier than standard but do not know how many db's. Is the noise measurement taken on the start/finish? if so is it possible to coast past? and how load is 98db anyway?

Sorry loads of rambling questions but is stuff I need to know.

Cheers,

Phil

I would suggest you ask the club office if there are any places available and if there are when/how can you pay.

Unless your exhaust has had the silencers removed I would think you would be fine. What SS system do you have?

The helmet you refer to has SA2000 accreditation which I would expect will be fine.

My documents arrived this morning and we are asked to be at the circuit between 7:30 - 8:30 whith signing on available upto 8:45.

Hope this helps

Thanks,

The exhaust is a long life jobbie, but it passes the MOT so I would have thought it's okay.

I'll give the club a call to find out about instructors etc as it will be my first trackday in my car (shamefully after 3 years of ownership!).

Thanks again,

Phil

Phil

One of the good things about the Club Better Driving Days is that novices such as your goodself are very well looked after. I still remember my first day on track and how relieved I was to discover it isn't a complete free for all but very well controlled. There are rules for overtaking which makes it a coperative activity with the person being overtaken have control.

As it is your first time there well be an extended briefing for you and other first timers. There are plenty of instructors to assist you in learning the braking points and correct lines to take.

Your exhaust will be fine.

Cheers

Nick,

I noticed the lack of Croft '04 coverage but hopefully you can turn that to your advantage when it comes to promoting Croft '05.

Are you attending Donington? If you are it will be good to see you there.

I have been watching the BTCC chaps dragging all the dirt and gravel onto OUR track!!!

The BTCC Masters was a great laugh.

Shame Tim Harvey took Johnny Cecotto off at Redgate, that corner seems to be a jinx for Tim.

Pictures from Donington are available at www.phooto.co.uk.

They are in this order (to try and make finding your car a bit easier) :
B - Black
G - Green and Olivin
L - Blue/Purple
M - Multicoloured
O - Orange
R - Red
S - Silver and Grey (lots here...)
W - White
X - Paddock and group pics
Y - Yellow

About 180 pictures here, I hope I've got everyone in, if you want to see you car - it MAY be in the other 600 or so I have, please email me your registration number, colour and car type - I'll have a look!

Most of the best pictures I have are up on the web though.
