It's one of those things that you just have to put up with. Short of revolution I don't think anything we do will get them to lower the prices. It is all due to the tax, which I'm sure you know, so taking action against the oil/petrol companies is pointless. You also need to remember that oil prices are very high at the moment as well.

The other way of looking at it is that just because driver in other countries pay less tax when they fill up doesn't mean that they aren't paying it out elsewhere. After all road tax in countries like Italy is a lot more, especially for larger engined cars and in Sweden they pay more income tax.

My M3 did 12mpg round Cadwell Park

but then surprised me with what I consider a very respectable 33mpg for the journey home.

I wasn't on an economy run just cruised around 80 mph when I could.

I have a fuel card, which is basically two-fingers up @ Brown!! Sure, I am taxed on the card, but I can drive wherever and whenever I want! It makes me happy that if I drive 2 minates down the road, I am laughing at Brown!

Too many smiles per mile to document and that was only while on track. Two days later and we are still smiling. We will be booking for '05 as soon as the entry list is opened.

They call it the mini Nurburgring and they are right but with the benefit that there are fewer corners so it's easier to learn and remember.

Don't forget Croft in a few weeks time (5 July)

Over here we have been paying tween 83p and 92p per litre of unleaded for almost a year...but then we didn't get affected by the fuel strikes...and I live 50ft from the Solent with the Exxon Mobil refinery right opposite me...

Least the 6 has been altered to run on unleaded, altho I am looking into converting to LPG next year.

If Brownie didn't put so much tax on petrol, the country would be a happier place

The last time we had the fuel blockade, my Six was one of the few cars still running, because although everyone had panic-bought unleaded, there was no shortage of LRP!!!

I think the thing that gets up my nose the most about the petrol is this: I have a petrol card, which I get taxed on and rightly so. Apart from the fact that 90% of the benefit is already ****** tax. So I get taxed on taxes.

According to Radio two today, unleaded was about 90p per litre in Inverness, but some "scoundrel" was charging 1.09 a litre in Blackpool !
Best Wishes

A mat (who works in a garage, so has access to big filters and drums etc.) has been using chippy oil in his works van for ages, says it works perfectly. And it smells like a chippy as well. If you use oil from an Indian takaway apparently it smells like your cars running on curry (I wonder if a vindaloo will make it run faster, it does me...).
Thing is how many people who are doing this are paying the duty??
