Another 40ft of wall/walkway went today along with huge cracks in the gardens about 25ft from front door.  Landlord is coming to see the damage for himself at the weekend, not having met him before could be interesting.  Council are not helping to do even temporary repairs although the walkway is part of the IOW Coastal Heritage Path.  Might enquire with English Heritage and National Trust to see if they can help cos the cost of repairs is now running towards over 200k.

In respect to sandbags, I have them across the back of the hut due to the river breaking its banks during last winter.  But at least the council do supply them and they are free of charge.

Living so close to the sea really does have more than the expected problems, specially when backed onto a river and the sea is trying to reclaim the land infront

I don't care if my front garden goes back to the sea...just means less grass to mow each fortnight

We have had a gloriously sunny day here although quite chilly and still very breezy.  Everytime a ship goes past another lump of wall falls off, kinda know how people in quaint cottages in tiny villages feel now when damn great artics rumble by

Putting things into perspective and setting aside the troubles on the Skyline site.

One of the regulars on both Skylineowners.com and GTROC, along with the Seat Cupra site lost his life a couple of days ago.

Known as 'Lucky 32', Chris was a well respected member of those clubs/sites and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.  Sadly taken at 36 in a car accident while driving his Skyline on the A23.  He came from the Haywards Heath area.

My sincere condolences to his family and his friends. RIP.

Possibly might be a very bad day at the office.....

Was chatting to a neighbour this morning.  He told me a story that is both funny and embarrassing to those involved.  Probably at least one P45 in the mail too.

Last week the M.V. Patricia was out and about doing a spot of buoy setting and a helicopter was taking supplies to the ship.  Anyway after a very busy morning, the pilot and crewman decided it was time for a bite to eat, so they promptly landed back on the helipad aboard the ship, turned everything off and duly went into the crew quarters for their well earned lunch.

While they were relaxing and eating, the ship had to alter its position according to the prevailing winds.  Nothing unusual for the ship and no-one anticipated anything to happen.....

Ship moved, helicopter fell off the helideck backwards into the sea.  Once this minor problem had been noticed by the crew on the bridge, a call was put out for the pilot and crew, cos at that point no-one knew if they had been in the helicopter when it fell off.  Pilot and crewmember were compltely oblivious of what had happened outside and were busy eating their dinner when the Captain of the ship flew in through the door and announced the helicopter was in the sea and why had it not been lashed down as per normal procedure.

The Patricia has solid teak decks, including the helideck and had been covered with plastic matting and had therefore covered up all the lashdown points.  No-one had told the pilot that the ship was about to shift position, so when she did move, the helicopter slid gently off the deck and into the sea below.

Oh how I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall when they contacted the helicopter owners and informed them that their aircraft had 'slipped off the deck and into the sea'.

Severely kicked backsides all round and now they have to recover the helicopter too...definately NOT a good day at the office
