funny thing is I can get a signal on my mobile on top of the Nevis Ranges, but can I hellas like get any reception at my sister's house in York.. Go figure.

Ah yes..the joys of technological defectiveness....otherwise known as a cock-up from the 'where to plant the mast' department

Highland Games

First set up by clan chiefs keen to bring more tourism into their areas, the Highland Games have flourished beyond all expectations.  The first Games grew up around those activities traditionally enjoyed by crofters, to while away the long winter evenings - piping, tug'o'war, pillow fights......

But some of these sports have been superseded in recent years by more contemporary pursuits, such as...

Spotting the Beer Tent and Trying to Find Somewhere to Park the Car.

Music and dance are central to these sporting gatherings and competition can be ferocious among the teams assembled for All-in Formation Dancing, while the festive spirit is bravely maintained by relays of pipers ( an'a'an'a) from the Grimond School of Piping, who play lamentable pieces late into the long, light nights...

Perhaps he has gone to the knackers yard, Niggles....

You never know with Ivanahorsecalledrory....he may have absconded or gone awol forever....lost in the mire of horse manure in the river near Radlett..never to be seen again....just the lonely cloppety-clop of Rory's hooves on quiet, misty nights under the full moon....

I have an axe or two to grind on the asylum subject, but won't go into it on here...

Instead, I shall continue to search for silly things to post on this thread and await the eventual arrival of Ivanahorsecalledrory..when the silly old nag finally finds his pesky password, that is

[serious head] Asylum seakers are supposed to seak refuge in the first 'safe' country they come to. Isn't that supposed to be France? The only reason they come over here is that it is so easy to weave their way into the benefit system, once they have a foothold, then the rest of the family come over thus escalating the problem. I have nothing against people that have a legit reason to enter. And before anyone starts waving the 'racism' card, the Australians have come down on people wanting to live there like a ton of bricks (you have to be able to prove that you can offer the country a trade that they are short of). And in Austria, you have to be able to speak German before you even think of living there (AFAIK)[/serious head]

Hope this isn't too political, or offensive.

I wasn't sure if the asylum seeker thing might offend though, it is a very touchy subject, but handled pretty good on that, IMHO

Wouldn't have thought there would be any red pen scribbling on that one. You should have seen the photograph of Bin Laden and Bush someone put on a forum once. There was a bit of wincing from Bush as Bin did to him what Bush does to everyone else.
