Hi,

On my E38's check control / OBC / whatever display (on the dashboard, under the speedo and rev counter), I appear to be intermittently losing one vertical line of LEDs.

a) Is this a known problem? It's never happened on any of my previous BMWs.

b) Where does it go from here -- is it likely to spread?

c) How difficult is it to fix? Is it likely to cause any other issues?

Thanks in advance!
Ciao,
Spokey

Hi

I have the same problem & I understand once the led's have died they never return. I think I shall have to look for a s/h display without dead leds.  Unless anyone knows of a way around this issue?

Chris

Apparently it's a self-healing problem if you have a BMW warranty.

This is a VERY common issue and known about by BMW.

One thing that may work is to remove and open up the display enough to spray contact cleaner on it, dry it out and re-install it.

This has worked in a few cases, but I think most people just put up with it because its to costly to buy a new one and most of the second hand ones are just as bad!
