Jules,

I've dropped Grant a line that I can't make it.. I may still pop along to watch but what with Dastek booked for the 5th.. Toyos for next month.. Knockhill weekend after next,, track day in July & October and it's all mounting up..

But next time.. hopefully by which point I've sorted out the insurance..

Give them hair-drying.. nail filing.. md-engine pansies some Z4 woop-ass.. Woop!

OK.  For those who want to go, see the original thread on Boxa.Net

http://forum.boxa.net/index.php?showtopic=6271

Best thing to do is the register with Boxa.Net and then add your name to the thread.  TopBear (the event organiser) will PM you to arrange payment.  This is best done via BACS.

Yes, places are filling up, so if you want to go, sign up soon.  I don't think there is a limit to the number of cars, but for safety reasons, and for the fun factor, TopBear may cap the number soon.

I think, I'm the only BMW at the moment, but all are welcome, so don't be shy.    Will be a good day out.

PS.  Driving is done at your own risk, so check out your insurance options first.

Competition Car Insurance - THB Egger Lawson Ltd

Have quoted £220 for the event with £2K excess on a value of £20K non-fire for both myself and my wife. Reasonable given venue. Pass it on as you see fit Jules.. given the machinery - better insured than sorry. I know this puts up the price but it's something we also need to think about for Knockhill in October unless they can provide us with discounted cover... as that's a track where you will get offs... especially if it gets slippy.

Certainly a lot compared to the better driving days premium through AON.. hence why we should be working towards adding Knockhill to this scheme.. Jim/Dunc - something to raise with John Safe..

It's worth checking your current insurer for favourable rates.. otherwise contact Chris Yemm [cyemm@eggerlawson.co.uk] for a quote.

I've diarised payment so to have to time to shop around first.

Jon

I'm speaking with AON and Competition Car Insurance as we speak..

Getting cover is essential to bringing in Scottish venues into the 'Better Driving Days' schemes.. it's what gives members confidence to bring their cherished cars to these events... many would like to but worry about the lack of cover and supervision.

As to established venues.. Croft would be our closest destination and sounds worthwhile from the thread on the forum. spoke to Nick and sounds like a sound bloke to give our support to.. check it out under Better Driving Days forum.

The problem is that any club schemes arranged wont cover this event and Crail remains something of a grey area..

I'm checking it out.

No insurance arrangements have been made as far as I am aware.  If you crash, I'm affraid it's tough luck.  Or you get a policy that covers you for track days.

What arrangements do you typically have?

It's my mate that's organising the event and your all welcome.  There is still a few slots available.  I suggest you look at the Boxa.Net link in the previous post.

So far though, we've got a Z4 (mine), loadsa Boxsters and a Ferrari.

There are other activites apart from driving so it should be a good day out.

Jules, what arrangements (if any) have been made for insurance?

Prices still inflated.. I'll wait a couple of years first.. but I'm certainly not against the idea. Would prefer the M1 if one came up..

For 40K I can have my 993Turbo4.. a whole different kind of performance..

360Modena.. about 420bhp.. yah? I'td be nice to see how quickly it pulls away from the M on the back straight.. have to take into ac**** he'll get the power down quicker.

My attendeance still v/much dependant on sorting out my insurance.. the problem remaining that Crail is not recognised by most insurance companies.. and we're certainly not covered as this is a non-club event for us.

Thoughts.?

It's a Ferrari 360 Modena.  So I would think most of us will be toast.  Though a lot depends on the driver.

Would love to see the CSL in action.

Would be interesting to see how the Z4 gets round vs. the Boxsters, which I know are might quick with excellent manners and balance.. complete opposite of mine then..

I think not!

But feel free to come along.  There is still some places available.  Details can be found on this forum on the other thread on this subject.

You're probably right Jules but them diesel boys are maniacs.. have you been able to confirm Crail as a venue for insurance purposes? I'll ask the Scottish guys on Sunday and take it from there.

Best
