I don't know, but this is the sort of thing that can happen:

And the honourable mention I got from the E30 brigade: http://www.bmwcarclubgb.co.uk/welcom/Rockingham/filmshow/index.htm

C'mon folks, get those 7's out to the meets! You can have as much fun as the next guy!

Hi spokey,

lauged my rocks off at pics of you at rockingham, much repect due, i have a e38 750 il in black also. Does it cost must to run it for the day on the track?

what would i have to do too take part in such an event? the car is superb and is fitted with 18" m tech with new sp9000 all round. other than that it is standard.

When you go on track do you all start from a grid, or is it timed event, i think 2 black 7's running the circuit together would make a great photo opertunity for Simon, and show those e30 a thing or 2!!

respect

It cost *me* a complete fortune:

1. New tyres
2. An upgrade to 18" "James Bond" alloys
3. Oil service before and after
4. Track day insurance
5. The track day itself

Still, it was worth it.

Don't start from a grid and you are not allowed to time the laps. You file onto the circuit from the pit lane and then drive around at a pace that suits you. You are only allowed to overtake people if they indicate that they want you to. There is no racing involved.

I highly recommend it.

Now that sounds like a load of fun, couple of questions, what sort of speeds did you reach, seeing as its not a race, is track day insurance a requirement for the day? Do we all go for a beer and chat afterwards  or just brush up the remainder of the bm's and go home?

O final question, do you know when and where the next one is?

kind regards

I only saw about 90MPH, but that's because the Rockingham circuit is quite a technical one. I managed to see 155 on an Autobahn, if top end is what you want. Insurance is probably a requirement, unless you are one of the fortunate few whose insurance already includes track days.

I bailed halfway through, because my tyres were dying. The afterparty is down to individual taste, I guess.

Keep your eyes open for BMW CC Better Driving Days. Well worth the effort!

Unless I can find a tyre sponsor, I think my E38 BDDs are a thing of the past. Maybe when these Michelins are near the end of their life, I'll consider it again, but I really can't afford to chuck a practically new set now.
