Hello all, Just a quickie, rang up my local official BMW dealer to get a price for an Inspection I and II for an E34 M5 3.8 - they quoted me around £750 and £840 respectively. Apparently these are 4Plus prices (and comparable to the E39 M5 rates). Can anyone slash these prices and give good service? Recommendations please. Anywhere within M25 radius should be OK, Ta in advance, Frank

what about just outside the M25 ring? Say Stevenage, Specialist Cars are not bad on pricing, but for an E34, not sure, plus within the M25 you'll be paying London labour rates

Hate to say it but a little further afield will be Munich Legends and at £40odd/hr I think they should comfortably beat a BMW dealer in a price war.

Munich Legends hourly rate has recently gone up to £50/hr + VAT. Still much chaper than my local franchised dealer who charges £89/hr + VAT!!
Does Nigel Moseley still charge £35/hr? |

Munich Legends have a good reputation for servicing, drop the car off, then head into Brighton for the day.

Must admit, I have heard several different things about ML, Sales/Car prices high, and std of not so good, but servicing has been good, However I have never used them. Colleagues have. Birds, yep I'd agree with that comment, I have used them in the past, and hopefully they will be putting the Hartge sport suspension on my M3 in the foreseable, and they did say they were VERY competitive where servicing is concerned. |

I believe Nigel is indeed still at £35/hr so I'll continue to go there and go and see the girlfriends folks in Bridgnorth for a few beers in the evening!

Frank,
Godfrey Hall BMW in Coventry charge les than £500 for either an Inspection 1 or 2 for an E34 M5. I've asked them previously about this, so provided things havent changed in teh last 6 months I'd hope these prices are still correct. I got a printout of the items used etc, just to be sure. They can be called on 02476 600600. It's a bit of a trek, but could be worth it. Cheers Matt |

I just called Birds to ask what I needed to do if I have 2 green lights, a clock and 'Inspection' on the dash indicator. They said it would be an Inspection I or II but I just think it is the annual check. Who is right??

Yes it is the annual inspection. When the green lights are out AND inspection is flashing then it`s inspeciton 1 or 2 time. Wish these experts would know something as simple as the BMW service indicator . Would be interesting to call them all up to see how many actually get it right.

I got my e34 M5 Inspection II for £560 from BMW Warrington (way too far North for you though)! Inspection I was £110 cheaper! Their hourly rate is £75, so still not cheap. IIRC, Specialist Cars rate is £95/hour so that would make their Inspection II around £650-700! 2 lights to go means you have at least 2000 miles left before you need a Oil/Inspection service. If it has 2 lights and 'Inspection' then it is an Inspection. 2 lights and 'Oil Service' means Oil Service? 'Inspection' is on the right of the lights, and 'Oil Service' is on the left. There is no 'annual' check per se, but rather regular (6000 mile or so) service intervals! Check your service book and it should tell you which service was last performed. Mine is averaging 6000 miles between services and I do 18,000 per year! BTW not all BMW garages do FourPlus discounts on all models so that could go a way to explaining the huge differences in price. Have you used the Unnofficial M5 bullet board at http://www.bmwm5.com/vbulletin/index.php yet? |

I got quoted up to £800 for an inspec 1 in the london area. I rang 20+ Bmw dealers just to see the price diff. Ended up having a 'day out' in Nowrich (lind bmw) they did it for £400, seemed very good and did all the warranty work i suggested they should have a look at. Rory |

I just called around for an Inspec I for my E36. My normal garage (Holland Park in London) was £467. Going to Four Oaks (near Birmingham, where my parents live anyway) was £190. How can franchised dealers have such different prices??? This sucks.
