Howdy! I haven't logged in in in 4yrs ... Yikes!

A long time BMW fan, owned 12, have been dabbling in Elise's and 911's since 2007 but am considering getting back into an M3.

I am looking at one at the moment: nice car, honest, little bit of surface corrosion in the usual spots, some metal work done on sills, then fully under sealed, solid enough history back to new.

One outstanding item that is boggling me is a whine from the transmission in 1st, from about 1,500-2,750rpm. Doesn't do it in the other gears, doesn't increase with revs, and pretty much goes away beyond 3,000rpm in 1st! A bit odd - anyone any experience of it?

Otherwise, it shifts cleanly between all gears cold and warm, doesn't make any funny noises, diff is quiet etc etc ....

Thoughts welcome!

Thanks

T.J.

Welcome back TJ. You might find it a bit quieter here now. There is not much activity on the forum apart from the Scottish Region which is still active. Hopefully some of the guys might be able to help you!
