Hi
I have managed to leave my central locking key fob and key for my 325i BMW tonight, on the train tonight. Someone has either nicked the keys or handed it in at their local station. I have a spare key but someone said that if I try to open the car with the key the alarm will go off, does anyone know how to stop that happening? If I do get my keys back it won't be for 5 - 10 days and I can't be without a car for that long Thanks in advance for your help. Kate |

What model of 325i?
Is it a factory fitted alarm (I presume so)? Does the spare key have an alarm fob or is it just a key? I'm fairly sure that if you only have a non alarming key, once the key is inserted into the ignition and turn it to position II, it turns off the alarm as the car will recognise the internal transponder anyhow. Failing this, you should bring your logbook to your nearest dealer who will arrange for a new key within two or so days (obviously at a cost).

Bummer. Fairly sure that you can do what K suggests above.
Make sure you take all the paperwork for the car into the dealer and proof of address and id etc. They'll be able to help once they have identified the car from its chassis number and that you are the rightful owner.
If it were me I would report the loss of your keys to the police and your insurance company just incase...........

Also note, that whilst you should be able to unlock and start the car with the spare key, when parking again, you will not have an alarm.
Your insurance will need to be aware of this I guess.
