I'm looking for a very nice condition example, ideally a Champagne 1, including the electric heated seats. condtion should be very good, less than 125k miles ideally. looking for a very tidy example.
Should be standard and not messed with, and ideally with privacy glass although thats not essential.

Otherwise would consider a e39 sport individual, in a nice spec - e.g 530i sport or maybe a 540i sport.

I recently brought a great one, and 3 weeks later someone rammed into me and its written off, so i want to buy another.

thanks, Doug.

Welcome to the forum.

Good luck with your hunt.  A nice clean E39 will be getting rare as they are now approaching 10 years old at the youngest when sadly some will start to show their age.  I was behind a nice lookng E39 last night and it dawned on me that it was 10 years old.

When I was after an E39 530i Sport all I saw was the Champange editions, the ones I saw, I didn't like the leather/trim colour combos and ended up with an E60 instead.

Gor for the 540i (I would say thatSmile) but the 530i is the best all rounder for the E39.  The 6 pots have better steering and the slightly lower power output is more than compensated for the smaller thirst!

I've reviewed all the ones i can find on ebay and autotrader, and none are in great condition as far as i can see.
CHP'2 dont have the electric & heated memory seats option which i do want, and so seem low spec and i am sure the leather is a different colour, or it looks it in the pictures.

Mine was previously owned by a friend for 5 years and was ablosutly mint and i just needed to tidy it a little more to make it like new, but generally it was very good condition.... sadly the local boy racer took a shine to it and drove into me soon after i aquired it, and now its destined for the crusher.... cat B so i cannot even get it repaired.

I plan to get mine back to take the good bits from it, so i need a good CHP1 as a basis to go from, but they seem much rarer than the champagne 2 when trying to find one...

if not then its a different model maybe a 540i or a 728i sport....

My next choice of car is going to be an E39 530i.

Just don't know what edition?

My mind seems to be setup on the Agean Blue edition.... but the champagne on the other hand?

You want a 53 plate 530i MSport in Agean Blue with Beige leather or a Imola Red with Black leather and plenty of toys.  Best looking BMW IMO.

I had a 530i. Loved it.
Till I started to put £120+ a week fuel in.

Bought a E61 520d. Don't like the engine. But my fuel bill is now half
and the E60/61 is a much nicer car IMHO
E61 520d, slow and buzzy but my wallet likes the mpg.....

No, the E39 is a much nicer car, it's better looking, it has a curry hook in the boot and it had a tailgate release button in the dashboard.

The only positive the E60 has over the E39 is fewer electrical gremlins!

The E60/61 handles much better than any E39 I had (3 in total)
I have a tail gate release button in my E61. Next to the bonnet release.
That's where is was also on the E39. Dashboard?

I can't think back to the E39 handing to compare them......Mibbie I did notice an improvement but what I did notice was the ride was harder possibly due to runflats but I put that down to the first E60 I had ran at 41 psi in the rear tyres.  Current E60 runs at lower pressure and is less firm even though it has sports settings suspension.

I have a blank where the boot release would be (where is wuz in the E39) next to my bonnet release in my E60.  Mibbies its an extra as your is a touring?
