Resetting the airbag warning light requires either a dealer or aftermarket reset tool.
If your friends have one then see if it resolves the issue. |

as said above, when they replace the airbags the system needs to be told, why were the bags replaced? Had they been activated at some time? If so its a reset procedure.

First of all which 7 series do you drive? E23, E32, E38 and so on
and when built, month and year you can find that out here because you cannot use just any airbag reset tool, some work only from built year 1994 like the Peake tool, and older models have the 20-pin round pin diagnosis box and younger models have the 16 pin OBDII socket. You do not necessarily need dealer attention, it is just a ploy to make you pay more. You could reset the light yourself but you would need to go through the system near the speed gauge, I'm not sure how to do it personally though...
