This sort of stuff has been known for years.

If 1 gallon of unleaded fuel produces 1 unit of carcinogenic, then 1 gallon of unleaded produces 10 units, and a gallon of diesel 100 units.
Best Wishes

Pity, we don't need a Civil Servant to tell us.....

"This has left us with a generation of dirty diesels."

It's flamin' obvious, just look at the soot stuck to the rear of their bumpers....I was behind an A3 today with asoot encrusted bumper. Yuk.

I should quantify that.

PETROL POWER WITH AS MANY CYLINDERS AS POSSIBLE

Everything that is petrol these days are horrible little engines with turbos on them.  Ford petrols are all 3 cylinder motorcycle engines.  Yeeeeccchhhhh.  Even the BMW engines badged as 2.8s are 4 pots with turbos.  No more 6 cylinder enginesCry and what, nope, no more V8s...Cry

Um no!

Not enough cylinders.....BMWs should have 6 cylinders arranged in a straight line and be petrol powered.  The end.

If you buy a 4 pot petrol ( like I have just done) just make sure you spec a mega hifi and just enjoy the drive. Plenty quick for a daily driver. !

I don't understand the headline using the word "now".

We have known for years that DIEsels are nasty and not just because of the sound they make.

DPF failures are getting common and are biblical to fix.  Neighbours 5 year old Audi A3, £1000 for a new DPF at recent MOT time as it is only driven 6 miles a day.  He got suckered with the £35 a year road tax.

If it wasn't for the dreaded DPF filter I would have had a new diesel 330 or a 335 like a shot. For a daily driver they are seriously quick and very economical. I quite pleased with my 328 petrol though I miss the low range torque of the oil burner.
