For my sins i am taking my sister to Take That tomorrow at Hampden Park

We are driving down early and intend to park in Queens Park

Now i know after the concert its going to be mental getting out and it would be better parking in city centre, but forcast is heavy rain,so dont want to land up walking back as lets face it we will never get a train/taxi or bus,so my question is

Does anyone know of a good back street short cut from Queens Park to the M8 For NORTH instead of Cathcart or Pollockshields that only regular and locals will know

Also where would be ok to go for some food around the back of 3/4pm that we don`t have to venture too far back into centre from our car

Always knew you liked Take That Pete.

All the surrounding roads around Hampden are yellow lined these days so be careful where you park. My old work college got caught and he stayed there! You can't even park in the Asda car park for too long either. Bit of a lower class area so watch your car too. (Sorry if I offend anyone with that but worked there for few years)

Dunno how to do a map thing but you could come from Hampden toward Rutherglen and along the Main Street aiming for Junction 1 of the M74 (where new extension starts). Then onward to the M73, A80 etc.
When you leave Hampden type Bogleshole Road into the Sat Nav which is near junction 1
No doubt someone can post a map.

Alan.

Working in the Rail Industry I can tell you more than likely that First Scotrail will be putting on more trains/longer trains out to Hampden.  It would be worth phoning First Scotrail.  They will run trains in and out of Glasgow Central.  Picking her up in town might actually be easier.

Do not take the car anywhere near Hampden as you will only end up sitting in traffic/getting your car accidentally damaged by the passing crowds.  One of the guys who works for me who lives out that way has actually gone out his way to park his own car away from the area for it's own safety and is leaving work early tonight to go and try and get the works car parked somewhere near where he stays.

Park miles away and tell her to walk, that's what everyone else will be doing, I'm afraid.  It is a chuffin' nightmare when there is a gig at Hampden.

The place is best avoided as it will be full of very drunk 30-40 year old females (Issy) all screaming at the top of their lungs "Robbie/Gary/Howard?/???/??? what ever the other blokes names are, will you marry me?"

That probably means you get free travel on the trains then!  That's more than I get!

I think it's que for a train or walk for miles to somewhere you can park or walk back into Glasgow city centre where you can park.

Hope you didn't throw your knickers onto the stage Pete!
Did you bundle and drunken ladies into the Yeti?
I thought you might have turned up really early to get the most from The Pet Shop Boys...

More important that talking about Fake This, Pete what did you make of the Yeti?

My wife fancies one of them as she could really use a 4x4 next winter in her line of work.  The Yeti appears to get a good rite up, the X3 is over priced tosh, the Kuga is good but you will still be thinking about the Kuga when you are in the Landrover dealer buying a Freelander.

Any thoughts?

Andrew it was a very nice car to drive

Mine was only the 1.6 non 4x4 version, but it was still lovely

Nice high seating position

Easy to see all around and to park

Very well built

Fuel was not that great at 34mpg,but apparently the 2.0 diesel is the one to go for

1.2, what did you pay to hire?  If you paid for a 1.6i you should have got some pennies back from them.

A 1.2i wouldn't have enough grunt to cope with the frictional drag of a 4x4 system.
