    Posted: 07-February-2011 at 10:41
Hi guys...

The brake master cylinder on my M3 has failed leaving a very soft and long pedal...Not good...

What's worse is that the seal repair/service kits are NLA and a new cylinder is £670 +VAT!!

Does anyone know where I can get one from at a more realistic cost?
Alternatively I would be looking to get my existing one rebuilt or perhaps fit an aftermarket cylinder...Anyone done this or have any recommendations?

C3BMW sell the 25mm 'big bore' master cylinder, gives a firmer pedal feel than standard too.

I can't believe the price BMW want for a new one........

Thanks, Sporty...I found this, too....and their cylinder @ £199 includes VAT and also includes a replacement brake pipe as the 25mm (7 series) cylinder has 2 x 10mm thread connections where the E30 M3 (23.8mm) one has 1 x 10mm and 1 x 12mm.

It's also an ATE o/e spec...definitely cheaper than main dealer even for that item!!

Gonna be ordering one today, I reckon.

I wouldn't buy a used one of unknown origin.

But hell, it's just for the brakes, nothing important....
