any one with an e46 should consider having this checked and even if it does checkout ok you should still have the foam sprayed between the boot floor skins to prevent the problem occuring in the future. insist the stealer does this as when the car is 10 years or older bmw wont honour this fix.

Paul, they need to put it on the freewheel ramp and have someone sit in an drive the car, you cant fail to see it then on each gear change. the subframe will float about at every gearchange as the crack/s open and close.

Well I'd already been in. the car is stock, they gave it a "Health check" which cost me 36quid, and told me a few things that were needing fixed but there was no cracks and it was fine, but I wasn't convinced, and rightly so. where were they looking.....the the diff....the subframe itself??
I'll not be paying this time tho!! Edited by vpricey |

Just another wee update, I was in at my mates garage today to fit my springs and check out another few problems.
When I was under looking at the back I decided to have another look at the supposedly Ok but I can still see cracks, what do you thnik..... Spot the crack.... (sorry about the bad iphone photos and the big photos, they won't resize in photobucket once loaded) So to say I'm quite disappointed in Eastern, I expected them to know exactly what they were looking at, but it looks like I'll have to tell them how to fix it too. So I'll be having words tomorrow. |

I dunno, it's probably cheaper to get the M3 fixed than pay for a pint in London. |
