Guys, you know that I'm a radio ham, last weekend I took part in the International Museums On The Air weekend from East Fortune Museum Of Flight.

We had a great weekend, over 800 contacts from all over the world, probably the furthest was India, also managed Equatorial Guinea. With that in mind, I've always said that some sort of radio communications in our convoys would be a great advantage, even if its just for lead, middle and tail cars. This would eliminate the slowing down of the lead car after leaving roundabout until the tail car is in sight, maybe a bit dangerous if you've just joined a motorway etc.

Anyway, I thought I'd combine my radio and car hobby and well check this pic out, I recon the antenna is fairly discrete and hardly noticable

What do you guys recon ?

10-4 big buddy

My neighbour is in to all this. Lot of Ham out there if you ask me.
I got him a load of Andrews LDF 450&550 with joint then had to do all his return losses and distance to faults due to VSWR. Fixed now.

Oh yes, I have about 600m of LDF 5-50 and the last time I measured, the loss over 100m was about 0.03dB at 14MHz (nice stuff)

Breaker one-nine, this here's the Rubber Duck, you got a copy on me Pigpen? C'mon.

Sorry couldn't resist it.

Sounds a good idea.  What's the legality of holding up a CB radio mike to your mouth compared to holding a mobile phone?

The legality is that it is not illegal to use a hand held microphone whilst the vehicle is in motion as you are deemed as passing a short message. It doesn't matter if its Ham Radio, CB, Taxi or Emergency Service, they're all classed as the same thing.
