Advice on 054 320d

   Hi,
I have a 54 req 320D (manuf Munich 11/04). It has metal swirl flaps not plastic, I have cleaned out(by BMW non franchise shop) the EGR Valve and fitted new air filter and crankcase breather.
Can any fellow Beema on here please advise on the following:
a) Are the 054 swirl flaps latest design? that is with metal flaps and 4.5mm dia stem?
b)Should I REMOVE the flaps and bung the "holes"?
c)Is it best to have a new manifold and turbo and/or not bother with a warranty?
d)Do any members have any dealings with ETA - Car Warranties. Are they ok to deal with.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
