BMW Oil Service reset for 2001 ~ current

No need for reset tool for 2001+ model by: Moko

BMW insp. reset

- Iginition OFF (POS 0)

- Press and Hold the trip odometer button while turning key to position 1 (ACCESSORY)

- Keep the button depressed (about 5 secs.) until you see "Oil Service" or "Inspection" with "Reset" or "Re" in the display

- *Note: On vehicles with "High" cluster, you will also see the amount of fuel (in litres) remaining until next service

- Press the button again and hold for approx. 5 secs. until "Reset" or "Re" flashes

- While the display is flashing, briefly press the button again to reset the Service Interval. After the display has shown the new interval you should see "END SIA" for about 2 secs.

Note that if the "Reset" or "Re" does not flash, then you have not met the minimum consumption level and cannot reset.

Interesting.

I have got written instructions to reset the E60 service icons and they state that you must set the trip mileage to zero first and they are adamant that it will not work unless you do this.

I have reset the trip when i have reset service icons but I then loose my trip miles.

The instructions above don't mention that.  I'm about to do my spark plugs and then reset the iDrive so I'll give it a bash without resetting the trip first.

Intersting Davie, the instructions I have don't mention pressing bcc to date right enough, but obviously does the trick.

Anyone know how to reset the E60 service intervals without loosing the trip?

How does BMW do it?  They don't reset the trip, or is that cos it's done via diagnostics?

Although, when I had and issue with the brake fluid resetting after I bought the car (from Derby) they didn't reset the system even though they changed the fluid.  So I went to BMW in Glasgow and the service assitant offered then and there to reset the system himself and he wasn't going to plug it in to a diagnostic unit.  So I'm guessing there is another way to do it.....
