A meeting has been arranged to discuss the
possibility of holding a number of events in 2009 for BMW enthusiasts - along
the line of what was done in the past. It is hoped to gauge the interest in
doing this, talk about what events people are interested in and to seek
volunteers to help organise them. It is also an opportunity for forum members to
put names to faces and their motors - especially all the recent
acquisitions!
It is
being held in the the Maldron Midway Hotel, Portlaoise, on Sunday, November 30th at
2pm. All are welcome - the meeting is not limited to forum members, everyone is
welcome and can contribute. Fell free to come down early for a chat or hang
around afterwards. It is hoped that we can start to pick up activities in
different areas of the country, but need to see what level of interest there is
and, importantly, find out who is prepared to help.
Please
do your best to try and come down. To try and define future events, it is vital
that there is both an active interest and people willing to make events
succeed.

My input to the meeting would be that we need to inject a little more life & community into the irish section of the forum than at present - it has become a litle quiet of late. We need some more events & meets to do this, as well as simply livening things up in here.
I'll commit as much time & energy as I can set aside to doing this, and am happy to assist in any events proposed. I'd also like to arrange some weekend of driving down south in 2009 - I did one 2 weekends ago with another group and it was alot of fun on some truly epic roads. We even met VAG engineers out benchmarking & testing!
There is naturally no admission fee - anyone who wants to go is more than welcome to. I think the easiest point to meet up is somewhere like the Esso garage on the N7 past citywest - there is a large car park there. Say 1pm?
