Topic: Insurance Posted: 25-November-2003 at 18:25 |
Has anyone got any recommendations/suggestions on who's good and who isn't. Got quotes from RH Specialists (using Equity Red Star), Elephant, Barry Grainger and Direct Line.
Graingers are cheapest but want £400xs. RH specialists are who I'm with at minute and the premiums gone up by £80!!
Direct Line want a tracker fitted and are quoting mortgage prices. Elephant are only just dearer than Grainger with £250xs and are the fave at the minute.
Any advice on the ones quoting or someone I've missed?
John

Im insured thru Performance Direct. They were a tad dearer than Elephant but I could pay in instalments. They didnt require a tracker.
Give em a go.
Regards
Mark.

Im with Admiral, they own Elephant, so they will give a very similar quote to them. As Kevin said, watch out for Mods as I had a bit of trouble getting through with an Momo steering wheel on the E30, but after all I got a good price and you can pay installments....

John,
Have you tried AON and the others that advertise club discounted rates in the back of the magazine?
Aon also offer track insurance from £25 per event if you're insured with them.
AON 08705708090
Footman&James 01215616262
Carol Nash 08002985555
Heritage 01212466060
Peter Best 01621 840400.

Tesco's are good - even better it you include on the insureance someone that works for them because then you get a further discount, AND can pay by instalments with any extra!!

Thanks guys. Admiral were £800+ whereas Elephant were at £650.
Tesco wanted direct line mortgage-style prices. Performance direct said they wouldn't insure an M3 with mods (tinted windows and ss back box)

fwiw, I was with Adrian Flux and Liverpool Victoria were £200 below Adrian Flux's renewal price.
The renewal letter from Adrian Flux said they would price match a cheaper quote, but I didn't give them the chance. If they could have done it cheaper than they should have offered me a cheaper renewal quote. I don't like the idea if being charged what they think they can get away with.

I thought you'd take things like that for granted, do some insurance companies refuse to pay out for this?

Don't knock what you haven't seen. Kids love it (keeps sun off them), I love it (stops me having to keep sticking sun visors in), safety plus I couldnt sell my stash if old bill could see in.
AON said they couldn't match the others. Heritage etc only go if cars over 10yrs. Carole Nash, thank you at a cheap at 1/2 the price £1200!!!
Anyone tried Barry Grainger?
Would you pay more premium for less xs ie £600 with £400xs or £685 with £250xs?
