Looks like you might be right there Steven, Red Bull do indeed look strong at the outset, just remains to be sen what ground the other teams can make up quickly and whether reliability will play a part too.

Just over a week to go, getting rather excited now!

My boss is trying to organise a corporate day out for some of our customers with a view to getting in the Mercedes box at Silverstone for the British GP and he's said if it's successful, I can host it! wooho!

Glad Silverstone got the GP!

Without a doubt we are set for one of the best seasons ever, certainly in my lifetime anyway.

I agree redbull could be up there but so could many others, it's going to go down to the wire this season more than it did last year!

I think it will be the year of the Bull.  Red Bull have been improving season on season and for me Sebastian Vettell is the new Schuey. I don't think we've seen the best of him yet.
With more teams in the mix should be interesting.

Ok, come on chaps, it's only 2 weeks away, lets get talking about who you think will shine this year?

I don't think Schumacher will sweep the board though will get a top 4. I think McLaren will be strong this year having learnt from last year and having two team mates who have together won consecutive championships.

I also think that Mercedes will be contenders for the top three constructors with Ferrari also being in the mix at the top.

Any other thoughts chaps?

Mike

That's what I was sort of thinking. It could very well be a case of Brawn having the brain rather than the financial brawn (if you get my meaning lol!) so perhaps it is a good thing, especially as Mercs have the cash and the two drivers they want. I think they could indeed befome an F1 super-power just like Ferrari have enjoyed in the past. I just hope they don't become arrogant and end up with the FIA in their pocket.

It's looking like a good season next year already, I can't wait!!

Will McLaren have the decency to let the drivers do their own thing like the two did at Brawn? I think Button and Baricello partenership worked so well without team orders and that's one good reason why Brawn did so well. It made them raise their game to try and beat each other but not at the cost of the other driver. If McLaren can try and do the same thing, as long as they have a competitive car (which I'm sure they will this year) then we could see Both McLarens near the top quite a bit. I actually think Button could learn off Hamilton and visa-versa, possibly a very good combination? We'll see!

Ross still owns 25% and he will have the financial muscle of Merc - I think it will be good in the long run as its much too difficult for an independent team to gather the finance these days.
Also Brawn GP were lucky this year with their interpretation of the rear wing - whats to say that the Ferrari won't be supe fast next year?

Ok, someone help me logic this......

You are Ross Brawn, a master at racing tactics and making the best of any racing situation thrown at him (rather pivotal in Schumachers success with Ferrari) so last year he takes over a team which was all but finished and with minimal rescources and budget, manages to get the best setup to start the season, given the new regulations too. He goes on to mastermind one of the biggest fairytale stories in F1 winning a contructors title and having a champion in his first year as a team owner.

Then he sells it all.

I'm thinking, ok, he made it a huge success from nothing and wants to keep that fresh so preserves that status forever by selling out. But I saw the emotion in his face when he won that title, it looked like the proudest moment in his life. Did he think he'd never better that so best to let go? I just thought all that passion may fire him headlong into the next season. Now he's lost his team name, his drivers and is now a mere employee. Albeit by what could be one of the best teams in F1 in time to come but still, where's his pride?

I'd like to hear your opinions to put my mind at rest as I have to say, I'm a bit gutted the dream just seems to have died.

I will still be supporting Mercedes next year though, well, rude not too ay?

Mike

(What I meant to say was, I'll be supporting the british contingent which seems it will now engorge McLaren but my second team will of course remain the vehicle manufacturer with which I have spent 12.5 years of my life!)
