Gents ( and ladies ),

I've lost reverse gear in the blue car ( 1994 E32 740i). Can anyone recommend a repair shop for automatics in Aberdeen?

Thanks,

JPursley

No but I can recommend an excellent Automatic Transmission Specialist in Glasgow

Mackie Automatic Transmissions

95 Causeywayside Street

Tollcross

Glasgow

G32 8LT

tel 0141 778 4545

They sorted out my E39 4 years ago.  I would double check the above as it was 4 years ago.

Thanks Andrew, I know Mackies, as they did the box from my original 730 about five years ago. They're still there. And right around the corner from my man at Benzcar, Jamie Doyle, who has done all my cars for the last six years.

Only problem, I moved up to Banchory a couple of months ago, so really need to find someone up here. Surely there is more than one shop in Scotland who can fix a ZF autobox ??

You only asked the Q yesterday

I even took my own time out while on vacation to search for you and Kev at AW says it`s only Mackies that they would use

Thanks Pete. Time just flies here in Abu Dhabi !!

That sure answers my question, as kev was one place I was gonna look at. Now all I gotta do is figure how to get it down to Glasgow. Maybe have Kev pull it out and send it down to Mackie's for a rebuild.

Sorry about the holiday  !!

Cheers,

JP

You don't get much Autobox knowledge on here, I'm afraid.  I know a wee bit and a couple of the other guys know a bit, but most of the guys on here have manual gearboxes I suspect.

Automatic Transmissions are regardede as a somewhat specialist area hence the lask of tranny speacilists in general.  Now if we were in the US of A it would be different.

Looks like you are heading for Weggieland, got your pasport looked out?

Hope it gets sorted o.k.

Yeah looks like thats the best solution.

Jamie at Benzcar tells me one of the guys from Mackie's has split off, so there might be a choice, but still in Glasgow area.

Only choice is whether to gamble on driving it down, or try to get it out and send it down.

I guess it'll depend how lucky I feel on the day!

So you live in Milngavie Andrew?

No

Let me guess you got that from my Avatar?

That is the pic of my E39 from Cowboy motors sorry Kilermont Motors when I bought it in Aug 2004.  It was their internet piccie.

I can't get the Avatar I use on the detailing forum to work on here cos it is too big.
