The area around one of the drainage pipes has rusted through. Where can replacement sunroof cages be found?

Get an angle grinder to it an remove the whole sunroof cage That's what I'm doing with mine.......Although it is a track car....
The headlining is a pretty tricky job to remove. Windscreen has to come out and possibly rear 1/4 windows if they don't open... Edited by DaveM-sport |

Like as been said above, remove head lining wire wheel all the rust, if you cant get it all out rust treatment will slow it down then repaint the area. that should keep it a bay for a bit.

quite a common area for rot even on thee most mint E30's .. like sporty1 has said, you'd be best to remove the headlining and see the extent of any rust/rot leading to the rear end of the sunroof channels. hope it's not to bad |

Remove the headlining, as what you can see may only be the tip of the iceberg. You will need to treat the rust or remove it before you do anything with waxoyl.

I recently removed the sunroof panel from my E30 and noticed lots of rust in the rear corners of the sunroof cage. The rust was flaking badly but doesn't appear to have penetrated through the metal yet. What is the best course of action to take? Should I spray the area with Waxoyl or is there a better solution. I'm tempted to remove the headlining but is this a good idea or not?
