Using it as a daily driver so my wallet is a kind of empty. Lovely car to drive but with the price of fuel and the fact that I got 12.5mpg on the way home last Tuesday, its only a temporary car. |

Another update: apparently the insurance company have slightly upped their valuation of the car. However, the valuation is reduced to realise the fact that it hasn't a current NCT (MoT).
What they seem to have forgotten is that it doesn't have this because someone drove into the back of it and the insurance company haven't sorted it out. |

Is it any wonder that insurance rates are silly when you see the amount of man hours spent in trying to wriggle out of or reduce the valuation and payout? If they just paid the real value on day one instead of haggling then it probably would cost them less than the lower original offer and the cost of time (even just theirs) spent farting about and splitting hairs since. BTW - is there any pre-existing reason that would prevent it from passing the NCT? If not, get it tested and if it fails on anything related to the accident damage then they can't wriggle out on that one. It might also be worth pointing out that the payout should be based on the market value and condition (i.e. NCT'd) immediately prior to the date and time of the accident. If market values have changed since then, its their problem. You can be sure that if there was a reason why market values had increased since then that they would be looking to pay based on the value at the time of the accident. Edited by Dergside |
