Saw the doc this evening and he reckons it should be gone soon thankfully. Gave me some pills and sent me on my way.
Took the car to AC today for a quote. The drivers side chassis leg coming out towards the rear bumper is slightly bent.

Always a bad sign to be on first name terms with a solicitor that doesn't handle your conveyancing!

Do you get any bonus for being a regular "customer"?

The car still drives with a slight vibration felt through it but we'll see what is the cause soon enough.
My neck is still feckin sore though which is more of an annoyance - I'll head to the doc this evening.

I rang the AA (my insurance broker) yesterday and told them. The insurance company then appointed a solicitor to handle it all for me. He is the same solicitor who dealt with last year's rear ending and also when I had an incident last January in my wife's car (guy pulled out of a junction in front of me and stopped!!!). Anyhow, the solicitor started slagging me - possibly not a good sign personally! I'll soon get a bad reputation!

Sorry to hear that K.

I hope you are o.k.

You have my sympathy.

I don't envy you having to go thru the insurance company lark.

I hope you get the car fixed o.k.

I take it you can still drive it, there are no weird electrical things going wrong from the impact?

Keep us posted on the repair.

Andrew

Blimey Killian, I must have missed the fact your son was in the car. The good thing being that if the car seat is in properly and the wee fella is strapped in tight, there is a 99% chance he'll be 100% fine, but just to be on the safe side, I ditto what the others said. No doctor can say you are over-reacting when it comes to your kids and I dare them to argue!

Hey K,

Sorry to hear your bad news, sounds like an expensive repair, if the floor pan is bent / buckled it'll probably need to go on a JIG (not the dance) to straighten it. Lets hope thats not the case and you get it sorted soon.

Get you and your son checked, and I don't mean for financial reward, better safe than sorry eh ??

Thats crap Killian. I know the junction where it happened. Bloody
roadworks. I'd advise you to get a checkup again on your neck and also get
junior checked as well. That would have been a fairly bad shunt to do that
damage. My dad has suffered with back and neck pain for 13 years now
after a similar but slightly worse accident. Hope you get a good amount for
the damage.

Killian,

Sorry to hear about this, but do not feel guilty about claiming for whiplash.

I stopped at a traffic light over 10 years ago, the bloke behind didnt. Wrote off the cavalier I had at the time, the driver seat collapsed backwards.

I went to hospital to get the once over and went home. It didn't feel too bad but the insurer got me about £2500 for whiplash. Months later I started getting headaches and more neck pain and have hadregular chiropractic on my neck since as one of the discs was compressed. Believe me £2500 was cheap compared to the cost of aftercare so far.

Overall I hope you are ok. Cars can be fixed.

Incidentally, the impact must have been fairly heavy. I'm just back from the garda (police) station to record it and discussing it with the chap behind the desk my car moved a good 10 yards because of it.
The boot floor mat is about 1" too short for the boot now.
The bootlid, bumper and back chassis are all damaged!

Lets hope the missus puts out tonight to make me feel better!

LOL. My neck is still sore and I have been taking panadol but I don't want to be one of those who claim for whiplash for the sake of it!
Still I was chatting to the poor lad for a while and I get the impression that his missus left him recently. Still, not my fault!

Buckin fastard for hittin you, are you sure your neck isn't sore, perhaps a bit of extra money could be used to build you rear nudge bars!

Hope the other guys car is written off (it's french so it probably is!) and hope yours is sorted soon.

I pulled up in a car park at work today and cracked my front bumper and foglight on a high kerb that jumped out at me, suffice to say it wasn't insured but my neck is ok. Just another blemish on my car

KB, really sorry to hear about this.  Your car has always been kept so well, it must have been a bit gut wrenching to see it like that.

Things could have been worse though so I guess that should be some grounds for thanks in the circumstances.

Sorry to see this K

Perhaps a landrover discovery or even one of the old personnel carriers are a safer vehicle down your way these days.

Tears rolling down my face at Rhys comments

Best Wishes
