Hi Mack,

I too have a recent arrival and have just bought an E36 M3 Evo. 4 door with very practical leather. It is the perfect all round family run-around. Oh - it also has a bit of va-va-voom rolled into the package. What more could you ask for. I would stongly reccomend one.

Darren.

Mine is a '96 N. Being an EVO is is the 3.2 litre 320bhp but you could also get an earlier 3.0 litre, i have been told you can hardly notice the power difference as not many people get chance to use all of the horses during everyday travel. I'm 31, live in a Co. Durham village and park on a private driveway. Chris Knott insurance have just done me a policy for £715 fully comp, protected NCB (i have 6+ yrs) with a £350 excess. Iam rather chuffed with it as the next nearest was around £900 without NCB protection and a tracker. Chris Knott got the policy through Highway, i've heard good reports about them in the past (they insured my mates Porsche 928S4 when he was 29 living in Sunderland for only £650).

If an M3 is a little out of reach i have owned a couple of E30 325i Sports in the past and found them to be superb. The F-reg dolphin grey one was excellent all round and showed no signs of covering the 135K that was on the clock. If the E36 325i is any where near as good then these too will be a great car. Some people quote the 328i as being the next best thing to an
M3 without the running costs. The best advice i was always given was to be very patient and not to buy the first one that comes along (unless it is a genuine gem). There is always someone with a minter who is not too greedy.

Good luck with the searching and all the best for the new year.

Darren.

Mack,

Darlo is just around the corner from me. I live in Etherley, just outside of Bishop Auckland (up the road from West Auckland).

They are both a good choice of car, and would be in their element around Croft!
