Raikonnen minus 14 points again for the 2nd race on the run. He's lost the plot. At this rate Simon is going to beat me

If you look at the individual points table the most consistent and top scoring driver is Heidfeld. Quite suprising. Never qualifies well but always seems to gain a lot of places in the race. Suppose thats the way this league works though. The likes of Hamilton and Massa are never going to score particularly well as they generally qualify at the top so can never gain places.

What an excellent race! exciting, unpredictable and probably one of the best I've seen in years.
Shame it is to be marred by a stupid FIA decision, where now FIA?
What a mess!

Update: McLaren are going to appeal the stewards decision.
Apparently they twice got confirmation from race control that the pass was fine before the race ended!

Whilst I agree that the penalty applied was totally wrong, there is a bit of problem with an appeal.

He was given a "Drive-through-Penalty"

The regs state that if this is type of penalty is applied during the last 5 (or 3, doesn't matter really) laps of a race, then it will be converted into a time penalty to be applied to the overall race time.

The regs also state that it is not possible to appeal a drive-through.

So, I'm not sure on what grounds McLaren can appeal - but good luck to them anyway.

Cats know your every thought.

But don't care.

I've just checked the regs - (for all you other sado's  here you go) http://argent.fia.com/web/fia-public.nsf/475632E46002BEDAC12 5744F004312F4/$FILE/F1.SPORTING.REGULATIONS.19-05-2008.pdf

it's 5 laps (16.3), but TBH I can't find the "can't appeal" bit, but thats what i've heard.

I think the FIA need to make a clear explaination of why they have penalised Hamilton

What a kerfuffle!

Seems like Timo Glock (although accepting the decision) disputes the stewards decision on him
http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_4126227,00.html

It really does now seem like there is a Ferrari bias within the FIA

For those of you that were not aware .......

Charlie Whiting joined Bernie Ecclestone's Brabham team in 1978, where he stayed for the following decade, becoming chief mechanic for the World Championship successes of 1981 and 1983 and later rising to chief engineer.

In 1988 he became Technical delegate to the FIA Formula 1 and in 1997 he was appointed FIA Race Director and Safety Delegate.

Bernie Ecclestone became chief executive of FOCA in 1978 with Max Mosley as his legal advisor.

Max Mosley was a founder member of March, which won three of its first four races. In 1981 he drew up the first Concorde Agreement". In 1993 Mosley was elected president of the FIA, replacing Balestre. The FISA was then merged into the FIA as its sporting arm. Mosley was elected to his second term as president of the FIA in October 1997, his third in 2001 and fourth in 2005.

Just a snippet of the incestuous world of Formula 1 ?

I don't know why anyone bothers with F1. Oh, yeah...MONEY.

I'm pretty sure McLaren have consulted their sponsors, before lodging their appeal. The sponsors obviously think it is good for business.

Just a different outlook...

Steve

P.S I fully support Hamilton.

P.P.S In hindsight, Hamilton probably could have passed Kimi at any point on the circuit before the end of the race. He didn't need to do it, so maybe he has learnt from this farce.

P.P.P.S It's all rigged anyway!

Not quite, he did one siting lap but did not cross the start/finish line, then it started raining then the thunder and lightening started, so no-one went out as they were all busy sweeping the water out of their garages............
