I was wondering about the quality of Spax suspension kits. Are they any good? What is their ride quality like?
Thanks, |

Spax are very good normally, can be a little stiff for some people but they definately improve the handling of the car. Stick to a 40mm drop though the 60 drop ruins the camber and the handling. |

Thanks Paul. I was curious as I was a very good offer for a Spax VSX kit on-line last night, but after doing some digging found a bad review on a Spax kit from a guy who had fitted a Spax lowering springs and shocks to his Mondeo. He said the drop was excessive, and there was corrosion apearing on the srings and the shock housings. Also said the response from Spax themselves was disappointing, especially since the kit was still under warranty. I know you can't generalise based on one negative review, but it make me wary.
I'm still looking around for a kit thats going to give beter handling with minimal drop, so Eibach springs and Bilstein/Koni shocks are probably a safer bet. |

Fitted a top adjustable spax kit to a pug i had 5 years ago. Thought they were great. Had 15 point adjustment and set the car up for one person, so slightly more damping on the drivers side. After about three hours of trying different combinations i had set the car up to slightly oversteer. I could then controll the car on throttle on a front wheel drive car. The set up was made for the dry. The car was a bit twitchy in the wet, and the ride was hard, but i didn't mind that. Round twisty bits and roundabout there was not a hot hatch that i coundn't out corner.

Thanks for the feedback Sohlman. I think I'll look at a few different kits before I make a decision. Having so many choices available makes deciding more difficult

Kev
Probably the most common setup used is the billy/eibach combo. Thats what I would go for. |

Or the H&R springs too. Eibach's are very close to the M-Tech - so if you can get a 2nd hand set of them you might save some €€€.
I have heard that the Spax springs are fine but their dampers are average. I'd go with Bilstein or Koni there. |

I thought about a new set of M-Tec springs, until I got the quote at the dealers, so it's probably going to be the Eibachs now.

Get them second hand. Try eBay.
