There are some that have not been posted on for over a year.
Do we still need all these regional forums that form part of the BMWCC?
Wouldn't it streamline the site if we just had one social forum?

Hi Nick, I think that Regional Forums are an integral part of our forum - even if we are not all members of the BMWCC, we should all be interested in what is going on in the particular areas, especially ours.

I've done a quick check and ALL have had posts in 2007.

The worse offender is Central (oops, that's my area) nothing since February, and then North West, lasted posted to in August.

All the rest are September or October - including today

So nope, IMHO I see no reason for change.

Have another look at Wessex.. last post two Septembers ago.

If all the regional stuff was not regional and put into one big 'social' forum each post would get more readers and possibly more results.

The regions make sense on the club forum. But on here?

Now don't get me wrong, I love this forum.. always have, but we need to do some housekeeping.

If I post up about my pub meet like I do every month in my local section.. it is only read by others from the local section.
If I post up my pub meet on another BMW type forum it gets posted in one big events and meets forum and gets many more hits.

Just my views,
Nick

oops - you're right that was Sept 06 (I did say it was only a quick glance )

Why do you assume that people only look at their own sections?

Maybe some do - but it isn't hard to look for "(All) Active Topics (Since Last Sign-In)" as many others do.

I agree that the section split is a hang-over from BMWCC days, but many - many - forum members are still BMWCC members, so I still think it is right to have the sections - perhaps the very fact that certain areas have no posts is a reflection on the lack of BMWCC enthusiasm in that area, rather than in the forum.

Or, perhaps the problem is that more members should be encouraged to look at ALL forums, and not be so parochial in their choice.

I know that I always have (even before I was a mod) - even venturing into the Scottish and ....(shhh)... Irish Forum

I think you are right. What should the regional forums be classified as now?

Its not a dictatorship!
I'd like the membership to agree on a format as they are the ones who will gain or lose from the changes!

Yes I know - this has always been a democratic forum - so it will be interesting to see the suggestions on how to improve it

How about one title of 'Regional Discussions' each post can have a sub title eg.

<Title>
VoYaH - Nicks Meet-up @ Barnes Wallace..

<post content>
Meet up at Barnes Wallace etc..'

Getting people to post a descriptive subject is a good idea but won't really happen in practice.

Rhys is on the ball..
thats how its done on the E30Zone.

There are very few posts in the regions that could not happily go elsewhere within the board.

I'm even thinking that my old trackday forum is now a bit of a waste.. and to think how much I badgered Killian into giving us one!

I am pretty sure that if we condensed everything more people would read all the posts and it would be easier to navigate as well.

Strip them back to countrywide? That means that the busy Irish and Scottish sections continue to work as they are and gives scope for a much more active English (English & Welsh?) forum.

What about colour coded bold headers (which can't be done at the moment) for official BMWCC post in respective regions. These would only be available to official BMWCC personnel.

i.e. Irish = Green, English/Welsh = Red and Scottish = Dark blue

A Visual impact assists viewing important threads.

thoughts?

That way then folk can still talk to others from there area

Most of my time and chat on forum is with others from my region

I would think it would work

The likes of SE ect could then put up an announcement of latest events and news as a sticky so it always at top of page
