This is a spectacular drive that takes you to the three major valleys of the region; the Tyne, Wear and Tees, across some of England’s wildest and most remote moorland. Much of the route is within the officially designated North Pennines Area of Outstanding natural Beauty. The roads are pretty good for driving on too!

There are plenty of places to stop for lunch. The halfway stage is at Allendale Town where there are around five pubs to get your Sunday lunch.

It's up to participants how fast or slow they want to go so don't feel put off if you want to bring the family for a gentle cruise.

Starting point:
Durham Services, junction 61 on the A1 near Bowburn.

Time:          10:00am, Sunday 30th September. You can set off any time you like, either on your own or with others.

See our Events Page on the website for details of this event and others coming up.

Andy, sounds like a lovely run.  Hope it goes well.

A great day out & thanks to all who turned out.

Pleased to say the weather was good enough to have the roof down all the time.

Some pics from the day.

Start of the run from Durham Services at Bowburn.

The coffee stop at Bowlees.

The wild route home. How many gates does one moorland need?

Back into Northumberland - the Cab at sunset.

Hopefully we can get another couple of runs in before the winter really bites.

Thanks for sorting the run Andy.

The problems with the M3's clutch seem to have settled - it was trying to double de-clutch about three times on a down shift, usually into 3rd. After the stop at High Force, it didn't happen again.

Here's a selection of photos as promised:-
