I've been looking forward to a track day all year. I bought my M3 last year hoping for a big day out. Because of traffic congestion and cops, its difficult to get any kind of run on our roads unless you go out at 5 or 6 in the morning.

Would there be any interest in a track day at the Angelsey track in Wales?
The track looks great and it's only 15 minutes from the Hollyhead. TJ gave it
the thumbs up. The ferry shouldn't be too expensive if we go in Sept/Oct.

Wales might be an option but there are some things to consider.

First and foremost is what you do if your car gets wrecked from an off. Next is you have to bring spare tyres and brake pads to make sure your car is drivable afterwards mechanic on stand by for the not spannering participants insurance etc

Ferry return will still be around 120€ plus the track fees.

I cannot believe that the bmw carclub isn't able to get a track day organised in Mondello.

Would be difficult to get numbers to participate as well.

Mondello are just too busy with racing hence no BMW BDD although I'd still
love to do one there if possible. A few of us could go over and do a normal
open day in Wales. You don't need anything for Wales that you wouldn't
need for Mondello.

Go for it Ger. It gets dark early in November so see if they'll do a cheap full
day til 3:30 or 4pm instead of 6pm.

What do you think me an Kin Mak should do going to the ring tomorrow then :)

Seriously after TJ's report would definitely be up for an Anglesea trackday, staying in some nice B&B with a decent pub and doing some of the Evo favourite roads.

Lucky b****rds. The 'Ring is it? Is that the new thing now? Man I wish I was
going with you. One day. Hopefully. Enjoy yourselves and be safe. Is it the
driver training or just open days?

RE Wales. Since I read TJ's report I wanted to do it myself. Sounded really
great. I was in Wales last week after collecting a car I bought in England. ('00
Ford Fiesta Zetec S). I missed the ferry so decided to drive around for a
while. Didn't go too far but drove to the track to have a look. Couldn't see it
as it's over a hill and the gate was closed. One thing that struck me was the
quality of the roads. Unbelievably good. Not a pot hole or patch in sight. It
would be a really good trip and I doubt it would be expensive.

Alex

Its the driver training again..........and I absolutely can't wait for it.  I think I will enjoy it even more this year, knowing what to expect.

But while we were at it, we decided to make a big trip of it.  Boat tomorrow and staying in Milton Keynes on Thursday night.  I am dropping my car into Thorney Motorsport on Friday morning to have KW V3's installed plus a full Geo, and while this is being done, we thought it would be rude if we didn't take in a Driftacademy day at Silverstone

Friday night in London then travelling to Ring on Saturday.

Lots of time for me to test out the mpg on my car.

Mick, if you if you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living? And do
you take on apprentices?

Sounds like a great trip. Will they be able to set up the suspension for the
'Ring? Maybe talk to others with a good set up done already. Enjoy the trip. I
look forward to photos and some video.

The roads in North Wales are terrible and you'll get a ticket from Brunstrom. Oh yes. Don't visit and fill my little roads up!!

Seriously, if there's a track event at Anglesey that would be brilliant because it's really near me!! (and nothing ever happens in these 'ere parts, I feel like a loony hermit!!)

I loved my trip to Wales, and will be back next year with a bit of luck for a similar trip.

No more BMW days for me for a while yet , but I should be at the October VIP day so hope to see some of you there.

Mick, your trip sounds fantastic. Let us know how you get on with the driftday too ~ Hopefully you'll get better weather than the one I did last Nov! Pouring rain in an open Caterham with no mudgaurds... everytime I drifted around a right-hand bend I got a soaked down my right side!
