Mrs D's 318Ci has a BMW single CD head unit. Can I still fit a changer in the boot? Anyone know if the pre-wiring and brackets are usually there with this head unit fitted? Thanks in advance! |

Yes and yes, if it's a UK dealer supplied car anyway, not 100% sure if it's a Euro import. If you remove the boot trim panel on the left, one with the little flip down door, you should find behind there a black lead with two plugs on the end, this maybe covered in grey foam/sponge on the end, if it is remove the foam and you should find the two plugs. OE changer will obviuosly fit in to brackets provided with the cr, although the Alpine C BUS changer will also work with an interface in the original location, both have the same dimension and layout......I wonder why? Thanks Sporty1 - the dealer was originally a UK dealer demo so I'm guessing its not an import! I was just afraid that the fact that it had the CD head unit might preclude fitting a changer. I discovered the similarities between the Alpine and original equipment changers when getting one for my 523i - unfortunately it was just after I bought a Sony one (which doesn't fit in the brackets) and interface! |

Unless you have one lined up already (and knowing you... as I don't) I'm probably going to retire my changer in favour of an iPod setup. PM me if interested in working something out vis a vis buying the changer or swapping your head unit for my cassette head unit and changer. Does her car have the access panel for where the changer would go?

Milltown - not planning on adding one at this stage but may be unloading Mrs D's car in the near future and wanted to see if its possible if the question comes up.
