I was up at 3am this morning as i could not sleep. I was on pistonheads and looked at the prices for the E30 M3's. Mostly E regs and upto £9K, 9K!!!!

what's going on with the prices?

loads of the good ones seem to be making their way out the country, and the prices seem to be getting more bouyant because of this.

Be interesting to see how quickly or otherwise they move, as there are cars on there at less money that are 'newer' but have been around for quite a while.

Same with Escorts, look at prices of mark 1 RS1600 and RS2000 compared with the later cars.

The E30 is ultimately more collectable than an E36.

Could be a good time to buy a GT version though of the E36.

Asking and getting are two different things. Lets hear from some people that have sold their car and what they got for it.

Uwe, won't be long before you'll be saying the same about E46 M3's  but the E36 will never be worth more than an E46 IMHO.

small article in Classic Cars this month discussing how the E30 M3 prices are rising and will continue to rise - with a graph and everything :-O

All very interesting but all I want to do is drive it on track

However, the more valuable it becomes the more worried we are all going to become :-)

Just means it will need to be a larger car to armco interface to make it uneconomical to repair............. after all the cars owes you what it owes you.

True - but it occassionally makes you think - funnily enough not on track but when I am at home reviewing the trip or day in my mind

Martin,

How would you feel taking an old 250 GTO Ferrari on the track then?!!

you should take on track whatever you can happily afford to, if you can afford a 250 gto you can afford to repair it, at the end of the day it is only a car and i am always more concerned for my safety than an old m3 !
Oops i went and got an E36 !

Agreed, you should only take on track what you can afford to, but how many people buy track insurance?

I used to buy track insurance years ago but the excess kept going up and up until it was £3000 and I called it a day :-)

If I had the money for a 250 GTO I would definately take it on track - like the M3 that was what it was designed for - if you have one I will take it on track for you if you like - Kevin....LOL

This is going a bit off topic but I must add that even though I have access to race cars I'm always willing to give my Evo 2 a run on the track, she just loves it.

On topic,

The prices are climbing and climbing. I recentlly paid 10K for my 65k mls Evo 2.

Great Cars???

Let me tell you one thing, I have a Ruf Porsche 996 Turbo with over 500bhp (and fine tuned suspension for top handling), I have a full bore race car (which I use for seasoned racing) and few things out there are rewarding to drive as an Evo 2 in anger. So although my car is near concours condition I have 2 sets of wheels (S0-3's and R888's) a bib brake kit and I track her at least couple of times a year...
