Hey.

A mate was cleaning the seats of an E46 tourer and he took the back seat out.

When he put it back in the airbag warning light came on and wont go off.

Any suggestions on how to make it go off?

He isnt actually sure if the light was on before, so he thinks it could be the back seat.

I am not sure how the sensors etc work, but I'd approach a local BMW independant who should have the reset tool and ask them to see if they can reset the light.  That would be my starting point.

Yea its got to be reset even if the problem is resolved.

Seat belt tensioner connections under the seat is a common problem caused by viguris hoovering. Not only on BMW's. Alfas too.

no expert but will throw my bit in...the relay or control for the airbag on the e36 not sure about the e46 is located under the back seat is it possible he pulled a wire or damaged it somehow while he was removing or refitting the seat? would cause the airbag light to come on.

Apol - not the cause your looking for obv...dealer for reset...

The R5/SRS is the airbag tool you are looking for to reset the Airbag light but you must solve the probelm first. Does anyone know where I can borrow or rent one of these tools?
